Chapter 12
I carefully stepped out onto the blacktop of the parking lot. I was relieved that Logan was next to me coaxing me to come out or else I would've went right back into the car and slammed the door. A dumpster stood right behind the building wall, making the whole place smell pretty bad. Not only that, but the only lighting fixture in the parking lot was by a sole lamppost that stood at the very center. I was so thankful that he hadn't taken me here at night. Otherwise I would have freaked and refused to leave the car.
I held onto Logan's hand tightly as he began to lead me around to the front of the gray building. "Where are we?" I impatiently asked.
"You'll see in a minute, just wait." He let go of my hand and put his arm around my shoulders. As we rounded the corner, I widened my eyes seeing a busy cafe that actually looked quite new.
"You brought me to," I paused, "a cafe?" I was confused as I glanced up at him. His facial expression didn't give anything away as we walked inside the building. I curiously glanced around. It was actually pretty cozy, and I could see why he would like it here.
"Table for two?" The waiter standing in front of us politely asked.
"Yes, and can we get one by the window?" Logan responded. I rose a curious eyebrow at him. Why did he want one by the window?
"Sure, I'll see what I can do. Be right back." The waiter walked away, giving me a chance to sigh in frustration without being looked at weirdly.
"Logan, will you ever tell me what's going on?" I mumbled to myself.
"Eventually." I heard him whisper. I cowered a bit upon hearing his voice. I hadn't meant for him to hear that. Oops.
Thankfully the waiter came back so I didn't have another awkward moment right there. We followed him to a table that actually was next to the window. I was surprised because the cafe seemed so busy that I thought there was no way we would be able to get one. We said thank you to him as we were seated and given menus. Then he left us to go attend to other customers. I looked out the window and realized that this was the view of the street. Honestly it was quite a nice view. Across the street were little shops that seemed so intriguing. Feeling rude, I turned my attention back to Logan.
"Um, Logan?" I shyly looked into his eyes. "This place seems great and all, but is there a specific reason you brought me here?" I bit my lip and looked away. Honestly I was getting worried. Was it normal for your boyfriend to take you to random places all the time and never answer questions about what he's hiding? Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure if I know anything about him. But I think he could say the same about me. I shook my head and closed my eyes. What kind of relationship was this?
"Yup. You'll see in a few minutes. They're just setting up now." I quickly lifted my head and opened my eyes to see a soft smile on his face. His hand pointed to something behind me. I cautiously turned my head and saw a mini stage. I definitely did not see that earlier when I came in. My jaw dropped as I turned back around to face him.
"You're- you're going to perform?"
Before Logan could answer, the waiter arrived with a notepad. "Hi, my name is Tom and I'm your waiter for today. So what can I get for you guys?" He clicked his pen a few times and I noticed Logan getting a bit irritated. I smiled, he looked kind of cute in his annoyed state. I mean, as long as he wasn't annoyed with me.
I still hadn't looked at the menu so I quickly glanced down as Logan said his order. "I'll have a cup of hot chocolate, with marsh mellows."
"I'll also have a hot chocolate... and a blueberry muffin."
