Chapter 22

I glanced at my phone for the hundredth time that day and finally decided to continue reading my book. It was finally winter break, and although I was very happy that there was no school, a whole day of doing nothing just gave me more time to think about all my problems.

For instance, Logan had stopped calling and texting me. He didn't show up at school after the whole flowers-tuxedo incident either, so I basically lost all contact with him. I'll have to admit that I was relieved that he was finally giving me some space, but his presence suddenly disappearing entirely from my life seemed too much. Although I know it would be too much to ask for us to get back together, I still hoped we could remain friends, which wasn't working out very well at the moment.

Also, Nate said he'd call me to tell me when we can go on the "date", but he hasn't yet. A part of me feels like he's not going to either. However, the paranoid side of me keeps me constantly checking the stupid phone.

Sighing, I set my book down and closed my eyes. Winter break so far has actually been extremely boring. The routine was the same for the past three days: Wake up, breakfast, go on Youtube, lunch, try to do homework but fail, dinner, not do homework. It was basically just days of procrastination with breaks in the middle to eat. Originally I was looking forward to Stacy and I hanging out tomorrow, but something came up so she bailed on me. I had a sad life.

I had almost fallen asleep when a chime made me regain my senses. Immediately, I snatched up my phone and read the notification on the screen.

Nate: Hey are u free today?

I bit my lip. The day has finally come. Part of me felt nervous and scared while the other part of me was so relieved that he finally texted me.

Katie: yea

Nate: great. change of plans tho. we're not going 2 the arcade

Katie: where r we going ten?

Nate: ten?

Katie: then* sorry

Crap. Now I just made myself look stupid through a text. I facepalmed myself.

Nate: I was thinkin of a movie? that okay with u?

A movie? Oh gosh, was this turning into an actual "date" date thing? I frowned. What should I type? Luckily I didn't have to freak out much longer because Nate messaged with more info.

Nate: some of my friends r going. Kristie will b there too. u can invite Stacy if u want

I let out a sigh of relief. At least it wouldn't be awkward with just the two of us. Although... I found it odd that he specifically mentioned that Kristie was going. Honestly Kristie and I haven't been the best of friends ever since Game Night at Stacy's house. She kind of kept her distance and didn't just tell me whatever she was thinking like she usually did. The distance between us became worse after what happened with Rebecca. It was obvious now that I wasn't part of her life that involved chasing crying girls around school and hanging out with Youtubers, but still I was her friend. Call me nosy, but I wanted to know what was going on, particularly if there was anything going on between her and Nate. I was dying to know.

Katie: sure i'll b there. what r we watching?

Nate: we'll decide when we get there? btw I'll pick u up at 6

Katie: kk cool. thx =)

Nate: c u then

Glancing at the clock, I frowned when I saw that it was already 2 pm. Only 4 hours until he picks me up. Frowning, my finger tapped the phone screen and I found myself calling Stacy.
