Chapter 13

Waking up on a Wednesday has never been more exciting for me. Only two more days until the dance! This morning as I got out of bed I jumped around singing songs into my hairbrush. I probably looked crazy, but hey, it looked cool in the movies. Logan still had not officially asked me to go to the dance, but I felt like today was going to be the day.

I dressed up a bit today with a knee length navy blue skirt, black leggings, and a white blouse. I also grabbed my black hoodie just in case it was cold outside.

Logan didn't say anything about my outfit when he picked me up, but I know that he noticed it. I could see a faint smirk on his face throughout the car ride. After he dropped me off I saw Kristie getting out of the car too and immediately went to go greet her. Walking toward the school doors, I linked arms with Kristie and tried not to seem over excited.

"So I heard you're going to the dance!" Kristie enthusiastically said.

"Yeah, are you going too?"

"Yup."

"So, who are you going with?" I raised my eyebrows suggestively. She just laughed it off.

"Nate." She gave me an excited smile.

My eyes widened. Of course he was going to be there too.

"Oh. Wow, that's great Kristie!" I tried my best to give a happy smile but I think it ended up looking like I was disgusted. Oh well.

"Thanks. Well I have to go tell him to get a tie that matches my dress! I'll see you later." She quickly hugged me before running off. I glanced over in the direction she went and suddenly made eye contact with Nate. I quickly looked away and continued walking.

I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous that Kristie was going with him. I mean, I shouldn't have any right to complain because I have a boyfriend... But there was a part of me that felt like Nate... Nate was still my crush, and after all these years he finally noticed me, and even asked me out. And of course I would have accepted, but Logan had asked me first. Was it wrong that I loved being with Logan but still felt clinging on to Nate? As if I wanted the roles to be reversed and I would be Nate's girlfriend instead of Logan's? I shook my head, trying to rid my head of these thoughts. I was Logan's girlfriend, I reminded myself, and that was it.

I left my Chemistry classroom after my teacher lectured me a bit about my grades again. Except this time she was telling me about how proud she was for my slight improvement. I smiled a bit. I had Logan to thank. As I began walking to the cafeteria, Stacy popped out of nowhere and pulled me aside.

"Hey Stacy. What's wrong? Aren't we going to lunch?" I raised an eyebrow at her. Stacy looked nothing short of her usual model-self, but right then her eyes were darting around and she had a cheerful smile. Something was up.

"Yeah, we are. But first I want you to take a walk with me outside."

"Umm.." I bit my lip. "Why? To be honest, I'm kind of hungry so can we go get food, and then we'll talk?"

Stacy rolled her eyes. "Katie! You can eat later. Just come outside and talk to me first. I have something really important to tell you."

I sighed and reluctantly followed her. There was no use persuading her. If your best friend wants to talk now, they mean right freaking now or she might die. I may or may not be exaggerating.

I walked side by side with Stacy as she practically pulled me through the front entrance of the school. Honestly I had no idea what was wrong with her. She usually was never this aggressive. In fact, I've never seen her actually get angry at anyone. But right now it looked like she was going punch me multiple times if I didn't go outside that instant. I kept thinking about what on earth could be so important that she wanted to talk to me about.
