The rain thundered down on the pavement, the sheets of water covered the street, the trees and the world. You stared out at the water that covered the world, tears beginning to drip down your cheeks. You knew he hadn't meant to break your heart, but that didn't stop your heart from aching the way it did. Wendell entered the room, and his heart broke seeing you with tears running down your face with the aching look on your face. He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out, you turned and saw the tears pricking his eyes. He again tried to explain but it was all too much for you. You darted past the shocked man, you ran out onto the street forgetting your coat and your shoes. "Y/N! Wait!" Wendell followed you, he caught up at the end of the drive. He grabbed your arm gently, but firmly enough to stop you. You turned and faced him, wide eyed. Tears mixing with rainwater running down your face. He moved closer to you, his hands. slipping to grasp at your hands. "I'm sorry." He told you brokenly.
"I don't know if sorry can cut it this time." He looked broken, "I didn't want to hurt you believe me that was never my intention. I don't know how to do relationships, I've never been good at them." You swallowed, you were soaked and beginning to shiver from the cold. Wendell's shirt was sticking to his toned body. He was shivering as well but ignored it so he could get across everything he wanted to say. "Neither do I. But I know that you don't hurt the person you love, even if you don't mean to." He sighed and ran his hands up your arms to sooth you. "What I said was wrong, I didn't know if I was going to meet anyone ever. Then, then I met you and I knew that I loved you and that I was meant to spend the rest of my life with you." He brushed a dripping lock of hair of your eyes. "I love you."
You sighed, you knew he hadn't meant to say those words. He had no excuse for what he had said, but he also had no clue how to change what had happened between the two of you. "I love you too, Wendell. But I don't know if I should forgive you, or even if I can." Wendell inhaled, "Booth once told me that there was a woman waiting to be my wife and I didn't believe him, and then, and then I met you. When you overheard what I said, I wasn't talking about you, I also wasn't talking about another woman. I was talking about my grandmother." You inhaled, "Sorry, I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions, but you can see where I was coming from, right? I mean you were talking about a ring and a woman." He grinned, "So, you forgive me?" He leaned down and brushed his nose against yours. Raindrops mixing as they fell from his head onto yours. You grinned and nodded. "We should get inside before we get sick." He told you laughing softly. He pulled you into the house. The warmth hitting you, he pulled you into the bathroom where you both slowly began to undress. When you were standing in front of him wearing one of his shirts, and he was only wearing sweatpants, something dawned on you. "Wait, you said you were talking about your grandmother, right?" He nodded, unsure where this was headed. "And a ring?" Then it clicked. He smiled softly, "I was going to wait until it was a more romantic setting or when we hadn't just made up from a fight." You smiled at him, "Well, when the time is right, you can ask me." Wendell moved forwards wrapping you in his arms, "When will the time be right?" You shrugged, "Whenever you are ready to ask me, you already know my answer." He smiled, "Do I know your answer?" You nodded, and leaning towards him, you captured his lips in yours with a sweet kiss, glad it had all worked out in the end.
