Y U U K I H A R I K U
I gasped, seeing many dead bodies on the floor and coffins that were aligned from left to right. Looking back at Shin, he didn't look so surprised. Instead, he was frowning. I guess he knew about this place. I then tried to walk and skip some bodies, trying so hard to avoid on stepping on them. When we were halfway there, I saw a doll held by a young boy.
When I was about to grab it, Shin quickly held my arm — preventing me to get it. I gave him a raised eyebrow as he shook his head at what I was about to do.
"If you're thinking of grabbing that doll from his hands, don't. He'll be a huge problem if he finds out you took his doll," he said as I slowly backed away from the boy and pry his hand off.
"W-What do you mean?" I asked Shin as he sighed, massaging his temple for a bit. He then looked back at me and explained.
"Ghost intend to come back if they have a grudge or if they aren't supposed to die early than their due date, right? Well, this little boy died early than expected while holding this doll," he said before he continued, still walking and avoiding a pile of bodies.
"This doll keeps him at bay. It's the only thing that gives him peace. I saw him lurking around for a bit in this mausoleum too, you know." He then helped me by grabbing my hand and continued to walk.
"If that doll disappears and he saw it on your possession, he won't hesitate to kill you." He then stops before smiling a bit at me, his blue eyes glinting in a second before turning back to its regular state.
"So you might keep your hands to yourself, Yuuki. Don't grab anything that isn't yours," he told me as we both continued to find Aya's doll.
When we reached halfway through the dark, I got the courage to ask him something. The one that had been on my mind for about a minute while he was explaining. Looking up, I opened my mouth and talked to him.
"Mausoleum, what does that mean?" He then turned his head at me, looking down at me with his icy blue eyes.
"It means Tomb. But for us, we named it Mausoleum or the Catacombs of the Dead," he explained before opening one of the doors. I then almost puke at the putrid smell that seems to be getting much more on my nose.
Covering my nose with my handkerchief, we continued to search inside the room. I didn't really expect it to be this bad. Out of all the students that could've got this dare, why me? I sighed before looking at the dead bodies for any type of doll.
Suddenly, a giggle came.
Shin quickly turned around as I gulped, looking at where it came from. Just outside the room was a little girl, wearing a red dress. She was smiling at the both of us as Shin glared at her. Her crimson eyes bore into me as I stood there, frozen.
"Will you leave us alone, Aya? We don't have time for this," he said as Aya shook her head. She then took another step forward, making me widen my eyes. She glanced at me, giving me a wide grin.
"Yuuki," she called out, making my blood run cold. She knows my name. Her crimson eyes glinted in thr dark as Shin then took another glance around the room before grabbing my hand and ran outside — pushing Aya out of the way.
I was still in shock as Shin told me not to be scared. Of course, that didn't actually helped. Instead, I breathed deeply before getting dragged by Shin.
Running through the vast hallway, I could still hear the girl behind us running at full speed. When she was almost near at catching us, Shin turned to his right as he pulled me beside him — making Aya crash into a wall.
"Yamero Aya! Ore No koto wa hottoite kure!" Shin yelled as I saw the girl glaring at him before disappearing. Hearing silence, we both stopped to catch our breath. I sighed in relief when I didn't see her anywhere. Finally, we're safe. I think.
Looking around, I saw another door. On the floor was rose petals. I didn't really know if it was a rose petal or if it was just covered in blood but I do know this. You do not just have any of those in an academy. Unless you're a sibling who just visited this burial place and offered flowers for your loved one.
But that's just a bit rare to happen.
Why? Because I'm pretty sure that the academy was hiding it from the public. If someone died and they were the reason why, they probably would've just dumped it here — not letting anyone know what happened to them.
"Yuuki," Shin called out my name, making me snap out of my thoughts. He gave me a raised eyebrow as I waved him off, telling him that I was fine.
"Sorry, I just spaced out. I was thinking about some stuff," I answered as he gave me a nod before looking around. I then tried to gain his attention by tugging his long sleeves but when I did, he gave me a really cold glare as I backed away.
When he noticed what I did, he quickly apologized.
"Sorry. I'm not fond of people grabbing my sleeves. It's a bit disrespectful for me," he said as I slowly nod, still a bit scared of what he did. After a few seconds of trying to calm down, I then pointed at the door with petals.
"Let's check that room." Noticing where I pointed at, Shin nods as he slowly opened the door — peeking to see if there was anyone inside. When he saw that there wasn't, we both went inside and saw a doll sitting on a wooden chair.
Looking right at us.
