S A C H I R U I
I didn't know how many days had passed. But all I know, hope isn't helping us get out of this academy. Sure, Jun had almost solved the case. But, the death counts were still coming up and fast towards us. I could hear loud screams just outside the rooms and screeches of the demon that almost caught up with Fujiko and Itsumi.
And there were only five of us left that were waiting for each turn.
Playing the wristband I had, I looked up to see Hidou and Natsumi glancing at me. Was it my turn already? I could already tell that it was since they both came towards me before Natsumi called out Ryoto. Wait, it was his turn as well? Looking at him, he wasn't in a great condition. His hair wasn't combed, his eyes had bags under it and he was frowning – which was most of the time, by the way.
Giving him a pat on the shoulder, he looked at me and gave me a nod – not a single smile was plastered on his face. I just gave him a small smile as Hidou and Natsumi asked us the common question that they've been passing along the others.
"Sachi and Ryoto, truth or dare?" they asked as we both looked at each other. Judging the looks on Ryoto's face, he wasn't really bothered on what our choice was going to be. Nodding, we both answered the same thing.
"Dare." Hidou then gave us a nod before explaining what we had to do. Glancing in another direction, I saw Akio talking to his look alike. Not paying any attention whatsoever, I heard someone snapping their fingers in front of my face.
"Sachi, are you even listening?" Ryoto asked as Hidou gave me an annoyed look. I guess he was a bit offended since I wasn't listening to him. Smiling awkwardly, I told him to repeat his instructions. He just sighed as he went over to the dare.
"Find Sora Yukiko's diary or notes that were left on the headmaster's desk. We can't grab the other files yet or else something goes completely wrong. Getting the others would break the rules of the game. I might change the rules but I'm not the one completely in control here, you know," he explained before pushing us out.
"Do not leave the room without her files, got it? Beware of the other ghost or else you won't make it back, alive." He then shuts the door as we gave him a glare. That was a very nice explanation, Hidou. Thanks for scaring the hell out of us.
Before we could even walk towards our right, we felt the aura changed. The light of the candles had already blown out and some of them had stay lit. The hallway's atmosphere had dropped, getting colder every minute. A loud crack of thunder had erupted just outside the academy as the sound of rain had echoed through the corridors.
Gulping, I slowly took a candle that was just outside the door and held it in my hand. Looking back at Ryoto, I asked him a question.
"Do you have any matches or a lighter with you?" He gave me a raised eyebrow, his hand going through his pocket. He then handed me a lighter as I used it to ignite the candle back. Giving him a knitted eyebrow, he quickly explained why he had it.
"My mom told me to bring this, just in case a blackout occurs or something. I almost didn't believe her but I guess she was right," he exclaimed, chuckling a bit. I smiled at him before we walked down the stairs. Peeking from left to right, I didn't see any ghost lurking around.
Huh, must be our lucky day.
Walking towards the headmaster's office, we pushed the door open and looked inside. The stuff were all fine, no damage whatsoever on the cabinets and tables. Grinning, I saw a small yellow notebook on the desk. We both walked inside as Ryoto kept watch for any ghost. Picking the notebook up, I opened it.
Sora Rin Yukiko
This was the notebook. Giving Ryoto a nod, he opened the door. The only problem was that somebody had waited for us.
A large butcher knife had gone straight to Ryoto's head, beheading him right on the spot. I didn't realize it but I was already frozen on the spot, standing still as I stared at the tall figure. He wasn't a ghost, that's for sure.
When he looked at me, my feet worked back again. I ducked, feeling the butcher knife missing my head. I then ran back upstairs, holding the notebook on my hands. Pushing the door open, I was greeted by Akio's look alike. He gave me a confused look as I held on him for support. Ryoto's head remained on my mind as my breath hitched, remembering every scene that had happened earlier.
"Are you alright?" Yuuki asked me as I shook my head, noticing Hidou and Natsumi's sad look on their faces. They knew that Ryoto wasn't coming back. They knew that one person had died once again just to get the files in order. I sat down on the floor, crying a bit.
If I didn't tell him to guard that damn door, he would've been alive.
"What did the ghost look like? Tell us, Sachi," Hidou exclaimed as I breathed in and out deeply, still trying to forget the fact that Ryoto was dead because of me. Feeling a hand on my shoulder, I looked up to see Hidou giving me a pitiful look.
"It wasn't a ghost," I answered back as Hidou's face fell. I could tell that he wasn't expecting me to say those words. His fist had already closed as his teeth gritted n anger. Suddenly, he asked me one question.
"What did he look like?" I gulped, noticing how angry he was. I then answered back, seeing him getting much angrier than before.
"He's tall, wearing a brown vest, dark hair and brown eyes. And he doesn't glow like a ghost." After that remark, he opened the door and quickly spoke in a cold and eerie tone. I could already tell how serious he was based on the creepy aura that I could feel around him.
"I have some urgent business to deal with. Do not leave this room," he said before closing the door with a loud thud.
