Y U U K I   H A R I K U

Remember the time I wished that the doll wasn't porcelain? Well, my wish didn't come true.

I thought at first that it was going to be a ragdoll that is stuffed with cotton and very cute or something just like a teddy bear. It wasn't like that though.

Instead, I saw a smiling doll with big crimson porcelain eyes and a dark realistic hair that reaches her shoulder. The hair looked like it was snipped from someone's hair and was then pasted right there on its head. Not to mention, it's a girl — which makes it much more creepy. She wore a red dress just like the girl that chased us outside.

I then widened my eyes, realizing that it really looks like her. As if it was a miniature version of her. The doll was facing us, sitting on a wooden chair — making me and Shin stop in our tracks.

Its eyes stared at us, rocking the chair a bit — as if someone was trying to scare us in our wits. I gulped, noticing that Shin had approached the doll and inspected it. And I just stood there, not moving an inch.

When Shin was already near, he kneeled in front of the porcelain doll before he looked back at me.

"It's the doll we've been looking for," he said before seeing that I was just standing still — meters away from the both of them. Standing and walking back towards me, Shin gave me a tap on the shoulder — making me snap out of my trance. He then gave me a worried look as I just waved him off and took slow steps towards the doll.

"Don't worry, it's harmless." I gave him a look as he tried to calm me down. Sure, a porcelain doll under a hidden passage from the headmaster's office and is sitting on a wooden chair — looking at us — is completely harmless and innocent.

That's a very good theory, Shin.

It's like you're telling me that this academy is pretty safe and no insane ghosts are killing students like me. This is sarcasm talking, by the way. But of course, I felt like this doll has a camera or something.

Ignoring his remark, I slowly grabbed the doll and lifted it up. Suddenly, its eyes followed me as I put it back in fear — letting it sit back on the wooden chair. Oh hell no, I am not grabbing that thing. That is scary as hell. I do not want a doll that stares back at me. Not to mention, a miniature version of that creepy girl in red.

As Shin saw my reaction, he rolled his eyes as he approached the doll and grabbed it. He then carried it in his arms and walked outside as I followed behind him. When he puts her head on his shoulder, I swear I could still see it looking right at me — smiling creepily.

I shivered, feeling a bit scared. My eyes blinked as I followed Shin back up the ladder, my gaze not leaving the doll. And still, her eyes were still following me like a bait in a hook. Even if Shin turns right or left, her eyes would still be on my direction.

Not wanting it to stare at me anymore, I took out my handkerchief and covered her face. Shin then turned around, giving me a raised eyebrow.

"Is something wrong?" he asked me as I shook my head and walked infront of him, not wasting any second to go back. After I opened the classroom door, I then saw Jun sleeping and Akio yawning a bit before blinking a bit — trying not to fall asleep.

Shin quickly walked inside as the door slammed shut, echoing inside the room. He then remove the handkerchief from the doll's face before he gave me the doll and sat down on the floor, giving me a nod. Oh, I see. He doesn't want to get caught by them. Alright.

But hell no, why am I going to hold this doll?

Putting the doll on the table, I could see her eyes turning left and right — studying the room and the students. I could hear some light gasps as she looks around. I wouldn't even question them. This doll is creepy.

She then looked at me, making me gasp and turn around. I don't want to stare at it. It just makes me feel uncomfortable. Suddenly, I heard Hidou chuckling from the speaker.

"Aya's doll will be with us for a while, alright students? She certainly needs some place to stay at the meantime while her owner is on the hunt," he said as I gulped, mentally taking note not to look back at it. Walking back to my seat, I tried to ignore the fact that it was still staring creepily at me.

Suddenly, someone had the guts to ask about the doll. I wasn't sure who it was though. Looking over at my left, I could hear the girl asking the question again — repeating it for the people behind the speaker to hear.

"So, we're stuck with this doll until...?" she trailed off as I heard something pop. I glanced around the room and finally saw the girl who asked. She wore a short-sleeved uniform, bloody bandages wrapped on her hand, has a short brown hair and dark blue eyes.

She looked intently at the doll, chewing her bubblegum every minute in boredom. Judging the look on her face and scars on her arms, I could already tell that she was a delinquent.

Hidou then appeared in front of us, making her raise her eyebrow at him. She wasn't really surprised or baffled. It's like she was actually challenging him. He gave her a glare as she remained calm, still chewing her bubblegum.

"Until she finds it, Miss Itsumi. Until she found out where it is," he said, leaning himself on the board. Itsumi just gave her a bored look before popping her bubblegum. Of course, this made Hidou much more mad.

But, he just said one sentence that made us scared.

"Let's twist the game a little bit, shall we?"
