I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. George was sleeping in the bed next to mine. I stretched and instantly felt more energized.
"Hey," I whispered, shaking his shoulder. "It worked."
He just smiled that damn cheeky smile. "I told you."
"Madam Pomfrey didn't catch you, did she?"
"No. I came over here right after you fell asleep. I must have fallen asleep too."
"Well, it worked George. I didn't have any visions last night. But I'm going to try and go back to sleep now."
"Okay," he said. "I should be out of here, before I get caught. See you later."
"Bye." I rolled over, adjusting my pillow and going back to sleep.
I slept the entire day. I could vaguely here people entering the Wing throughout the day, but I stayed asleep. Voldemort didn't bother me once.
Around ten at night, my restful sleep was disturbed again. I heard a whispering voice somewhere in the distance.
It was saying something. I strained my ears to hear it. I walked closer, trying to hear.
Then, out of nowhere, there was a face, just a couple of centimeters away from mine.
The face was white, the nose was smashed in, or missing, I couldn't tell. The eyes burned a bright green. I almost looked away, realizing who it was.
"Didn't think it was going to be that easy, did you?" he asked in his raspy voice. "Love may have saved you on that night, but it won't save you ever again."
That night was horrible. I was stuck in the vision. I couldn't wake up. The vision was like one giant movie slide. It would show one horrible thing, such as the Weasleys all being tortured and killed, and then the scenery would bleed away into the darkness, and another one would appear.
Probably the most horrifying one was when I was strapped to a chair, and Hermione was standing across from me. She held her wand outstretched. It was clear she wasn't under any curse.
She pointed her wand at me, and her eyes turned the same bright green as Voldemort's.
"Avada Kedavra Gwen," she said. She was laughing as the green bolt struck me square in the chest.
Eventually, I woke up. I saw a crowd of professors around me. Flitwick, McGonagall, Snape, and Sprout all had their wands pointed at me. I noticed them all muttering the same incantation, and doing the same wand movement.
"Oh good!" Professor Sprout shouted. "She has finally woken up!!"
I noticed Snape still muttering an incantation. It was a different one however.
"No Dark Magic," he finally said in his baritone voice. "Visions, transmitted from the Dark Lord's mind."
"I can preform a charm to block her mind Minerva," Flitwick said in his squeaky voice.
"If she would practice Occulmency, this would not be happening." Snape replied.
"I've tried Professor," I said, too tired to be angry. "Our link is stronger than the Occulmency power I am capable of. And I think he's realized this."
"I think it is quite clear," I heard a high voice say. Suddenly, I forgot all fear and exhaustion. That bastard of a woman would not leave me alone. "This is the Dark Lord's way of making sure his key asset isn't caught."
I lost it again. I shot up from the bed, ready to blast her head off her neck.
"Are you bloody serious?!" I shouted. "You think Voldemort is torturing me, not allowing me any sleep, because I am his asset? Have you not been told enough, I am on your side! Well, maybe not your side, but I am on the good side! I would be sent to Azkaban if that's what it took to prove it to you!"
I heard a bell ring. Which was odd, because when I was last awake, it was a Friday.
"How long have I been knocked out?" I asked.
McGonagall suddenly looked upset. "You've been passed out for a month."
"A month!" I shouted. "I have been conked out for a month?!"
"Yes. And you have missed quite a bit," Umbridge said. "Such as me becoming your new headmistress."
I kid you not, my arms gave out and I collapsed to the floor. I stood up and sat myself back on the bed.
"Come again?" I asked.
"I am now headmistress," she repeated. She stood and walked to Madame Pomfrey's office.
Immediately, I was lifted up by Snape and carried out of the room. I was confused, but I didn't dare try to squirm. Snape, followed by the other professors, walked to an unused classroom on the third floor. Snape placed me down on a table, and Flitwick began to enchant the room.
Once he was finished, McGonagall began to speak.
"Now Gwenyth, I know you're probably very confused right now. But before you ask us anything, please let us explain."
"Okay," I thought. "This is really weird, scary, confusing, and just wrong all wrapped into one."
"There is an issue, Gwenyth," Professor Sprout explained. "Now, I know you're well aware that Professor Umbridge is... well, let's just say, out for your blood."
"Yeah," I thought. "You could not be more right on that one."
"To put it simply," said Snape. "Dolores wants to send you to Azkaban. Now that she is Headmistress, she can do just that." I suddenly felt sick.
"So," I said. "Let me get this straight. Not only am I being tortured by Voldemort, but now I have to be send of to a concrete stronghold on a tiny island to be tortured by dementors as well?!"
"Not if we can help it," Flitwick said. "Which is why we're keeping you here. If you don't mind, that is. Your brother has given us his Invisibility Cloak, so if you need to walk around at night, after curfew, you may do so. But only if you must!"
"We are the only ones who know of your location," McGonagall said. "And sound proof charms have been placed around the entire room, so should you have visions that cause you to scream, no one will hear."
Snape continued speaking again. "We have also told several of your house members to save food from their dinner, and drop the food off to Minerva after each meal everyday."
The professors were having fun finishing each other's thoughts. Sprout continued next. "There will also be a bag delivered with your dinner. It will have your lessons from the day, your clothes for the next day, and water, soap, that kind of stuff."
McGonagall transfigured a desk into a cot, and a couple chairs into a sink and toilet. "Are you okay with these arrangements?""As long as they keep me out of Azkaban."
