I sat in the room with the blank walls. The room with the grey, depressing walls. Gwen sat on her bed, staring blankly at the wall. It had been almost a month. She hadn't recovered at all.
"Gwen?" I asked. Her head turned a little bit towards me, which was good. But she was still silent.
I moved towards her bed. The sudden dip from me sitting down didn't cause any reaction.
I put my arm on her shoulder, to let her know I was there. "Hey Gwen. How are you feeling?" No response.
"Everyone misses you," I said. The Healers said if we talk to her, it could help. They think she can still hear us, she just can't respond. I personally think they are just saying that to make us feel better. But I still do it anyways.
"We went on a crazy mission yesterday," I continued. "Harry's visions had showed Sirius dead in the Department of Mysteries, so we went."
I called back the memory. We were riding on the backs of the thesterals. I did not enjoy that very much. I mean, I rode throughout England on an invisible horse.
We arrived in the Ministry and just walked right in. I'm honestly surprised no one stopped us.
"Harry and Ron led us through the Ministry to the Department of Mysteries. When we walked in, Harry said there was supposed to be one door. But there wasn't. There was a ring of them, and every time you closed the door, the walls started spinning."
As I told her about the events of the night before, I kept hoping for a reaction, a glance, or something. She kept sitting on the edge of her bed, staring at the wall.I got no reaction from the brain creatures that attacked Ron. I didn't get anything from Ginny's sprained ankle, when I was attacked. I didn't even get a response when I told her Harry dueled with Bellatrix and Voldemort.
"Sirius almost died." She flinched. She stood up and looked at me. Her mouth opened, and it was clear she was trying to form words. Her face was blank, but I could feel the frustration radiating off of her.
"H-h-how?" she whispered. My eyes widened in surprise.
"Bellatrix knocked him down. He almost went into this veil. One of the Death Eaters had gone in before, and he never came back out."
It seems like Gwen had a moment of clarity, but that was gone. Her face was blank once more, and her mind seemed as if it was in another universe.
"I have to go now Gwen," I said. I wrapped her in a hug. She stood still, until I felt her head lean on my shoulder.
I left her in the room to be pampered by the Healers. I walked up to the head Healer on her team, and I told her everything that happened.
"That's amazing!" she said. "That means she can recognize certain important people! Thank you so much dear."
"You're welcome ma'am," I said. I walked out to the main lobby, where the Weasleys were waiting for me.
"Thank you for taking me out here Molly," I said.
"You're welcome Hermione dear," she said. "Has everybody gone to see her?"
I looked at George. He hadn't gone, but I didn't see him objecting to leaving.
"George, you haven't gone yet," Ginny and I said at the same time.
