[a/n long chapter]

as yongguk sat in the police car, cold and lonely, he thought of kenta.

kenta... a jackass in the least, but not one serious enough to die.

even though he was annoying, he was a good friend. he kept secrets, he told lies to protect others, he was always by one's side when they needed aid. his smile honestly brightened up the whole country, and his character was so loveable, it was cute.

yongguk thought about his lame jokes, and the times he ranted in japanese unknowingly because they were so close that kenta thought he was talking to a friend back in japan, and he thought about the times they'd sleep over at eachother's houses for no reason whatsoever.

a tear suddenly slipped down his cheek, making him widen his eyes and sniff. the memories hurt his heart incredibly. he regretted his last encounter with him too much.

before he knew it, he was full-out sobbing, frustrated that he couldn't wipe his eyes or nose due to his cuffed hands. he reminisced his best friend's presence, he missed it. he hated how he felt this feeling so often. it had only been less than a year ago when sanggyun passed away-

sanggyun.

yongguk's sobs suddenly halted. he suddenly thought of kenta's words, all of them coming back to him in a flash.

"don't his eyes freak you out? they're glowing red!"

"i'm telling you, yongguk, something's off about him."

"didn't you see the way he treated me? usually he'd hug me or something, but he was so hostile..."

"i'm just saying, him being back isn't adding up."

yongguk gasped as he sat up straight. sanggyun.

"finally, you put two-and-two together," a voice chuckled, making yongguk yelp and stick to the door. sanggyun appeared, sitting in the seat next to him.

"w-what-" yongguk gulped dryly, hot tears threatening to fall. "what... the hell did you do to kenta?"

he hummed to himself, turning to face him cunningly. "more like, what did you do to kenta?"

"what?" yongguk gulped, clenching his fists as sanggyun laughed. "i guess you really are that empty-headed. do i have to explain it all to you?"

"explain what?!" yongguk scram in frustration. the other only smiled.

"when i died," sanggyun smiled gently, "i was clueless. i didn't know what happened to me, or why i still had a conscience. i could see and hear everything but it didn't add up. i was sent up to these big, wide gates... and that's where i met them. the death ghouls."
