Chapter 20

•Brittany's POV•

It only took me about thirty minutes to get all of my stuff packed and ready to go.

We had all already put our things in the back of our car and strapped our skis and snowboards to the top.

It was 12:45 and we were going to leave at 1:00 with the Griers.

I'm really going to miss Hayes. We've really become close and he's been there for me when I needed him most. Like when I broke my arm. He also comforted me when I came back to him scared from the note left on my window.

I know I've only known him for a few days but these few days now feel like years.

I wonder if he is going to miss me too?

Suddenly I hear a door slam shut and a bunch of footsteps.

I look up and see them walking towards us.

I hug Mrs. Grier first.

"Thank you for letting me sleep over at your condo and having us over for dinner Mrs. Grier" I say.

"Oh it was my pleasure, and you can call me Elizabeth" she replies.

"Haha okay. Goodbye!"

Then I hug little Skylynn.

"Bye-bye Skylynn. I'm going to miss you" I tell her.

"Bye Brittany. Next time I see you, you have to play horsies with me!" she says.

"Okay Sky, I will."

Next is Nash.

"I'm gonna miss you a lot" I say as he engulfs me into a huge bear hug only Nash can give.

"I'll miss ya too Brit. We've gotta meet up again sometime okay?"

"Yes we've got to" I reply.

Them I see Hayes slowly walk up to me. I look at him and see that his eyes are glossy and he looks really upset.

"Hayes I'm goin-" I'm cut off by Hayes' lips crashing into mine. Again! But hey, I'm not complaining.

"I'm going to miss you so much, you have no idea" he says after breaking the kiss.

I look up at his beautiful blue eyes.

"I'm going to miss you too" I say while trying not to cry.

"Hey listen, we're going to see each other again. I promise" he says.

"I know it's just.." I try to finish what I was saying but I can't without completely breaking down.

I look down at my feet and then back up at Hayes. I feel a single tear fall down my face.

"Hey now don't cry, it's going to be okay" he says while wiping away my tear with his thumb. "This goodbye is only for now."

He then wraps his strong arms around me and I wrap mine around him. I swear I could just stay like this forever.

•Hayes' POV•

It was really hard for me not to cry. I didn't want to in front of Brittany because I knew it would make her cry too.

Everyone said their goodbyes and it was very sad. We all promised we'd see each other again sometime but none of us knew when or where. And with Nash and me becoming more 'famous' by the second, it was going to be tough.

Then I climbed into our car and we started to drive away. So I rolled down my window and looked out. I saw Brittany had rolled hers down too.

"Goodbye Hayes!" she yelled across the street with tears streaming down her face.

"Bye Brittany!" I say. "Don't cry, everything's going to be okay!"

Then I saw her car pull onto the freeway away from ours.

And with that...she was gone.

I felt so alone without her by my side. I already missed her company. Her laugh. Her smile. I miss her.

And then I did something I hadn't done since I can remember. I cried.

•Brittany's POV•

I cried for probably the first hour we were in the car because I missed him so much. But once I got myself together, I decided to text my friends and tell them about my trip and that I was on my way home.

I just went back to my old group chat I made with Caroline Peyton and Ashton.

Me: hey guys I'm on my way home & I can't wait to see you all😊

Peyton: omg I miss you sm!💗

Caroline: me too!!!

Ashton: me 3😘

Me: hahah we've all gotta hang when I get home. I feel like I haven't seen y'all in years!

Ashton: yassss imysm!!

Peyton: ^^^😚😚😚

Me: & guess what guys😏

Caroline: what??!!

Me: remember how I sorta became friends with Hayes grier?

Peyton: yeah...!!!!!

Me: we kissed☺️

Peyton: OMG WHEN WHERE HOW?!?!?!😵❤️

Ashton: yeah tell us all about it!

Caroline: Brittany & Hayes sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g

Me: you know what I just realized?!

Peyton: ...nope

Caroline: ^😂

Me: when me and Hayes first kissed we were sitting in a tree. No joke😯

Ashton: that weird. It's like...exactly like the song lol

Me: haha yeah. & also I broke my arm snowboarding😔

Peyton: awh I'm so sorry. Do you have a cast on?

Me: yeah. I've gotta wear it for 5 more weeks.

Ashton: that sucks I'm sorry

Caroline: yeah me too. I hope you feel better!🙏

Me: thanks guys. It really means a lot. But I gtg now. My phones at 5%

Ashton: alright goodbye brit!💁

Peyton: bye!💓

Caroline: see ya soon!!!💝

Then I set down my phone. I was exhausted so I pushed my seat back as much as all of our junk in the back would allow.

And in about ten minutes, I was asleep, dreaming about when I first met Hayes.

Dreaming about the day everything changed.

So this is the end of the 'first part' of this fanfic. I'm not going to make a sequel now. I'm just going to add another half to the story. But it's going to be a little in the future.
