•Hayes' POV•

We were about half way to the infirmary when Brittany let out a low groan.

"Shhh it's going to be okay" I told her.

"What happened? Where am I?" she asked.

Uh oh. This isn't good.

"You can't remember where you are?" I asked her.

"Vaguely. Did something happen?"

"Well, you were snowboarding and someone hit out and knocked you out. Now we're taking you to the infirmary because you're hurt."

"Oh okay" she replies.

"We're here. Everyone back up and let us move her in" one of the ski patrol guys say.

They then took her inside on a stretcher.

We followed close behind them.

"You alright?" Nash asks me.

"I think. As long as she's okay, I'm okay" I reply.

Then her family arrived.

"Where is she. Let me see her!" her mom says.

"They just took her into a room and won't let anyone go in" Will says.

"But we're family!" her father says.

"Once we give her a thorough check up and make sure she's up for visitors, we will let you see her" one of the nurses says.

So we all just sit and wait.

•Brittany's POV•

Everything was a bit fuzzy. I couldn't really focus on anything and I was very confused.

Once I talked to Hayes a bit, things started to make more sense.

I remembered I was on vacation in Virginia and had been hit while I was snowboarding.

I was okay, except for my arm felt like it was on fire.

It was also twisted in a direction I'm pretty sure it wasn't supposed to go.

I also noticed that it looked like Hayes had been crying. Why would he be crying? Did he get hurt too?

I was about to say something when I was suddenly picked up and taken away from everyone and into a room.

A minute later a doctor came in a basically gave me a full-body checkup.

"I'm sorry to tell you this, but your arm

is broken. You will have to wear a cast for six weeks before it will be healed. You also won't be able to snowboard" the doctor tells me.

My parents must if told him we were staying here on vacation and we were planning on going back out on the slopes tomorrow.

"What, six whole weeks?!" I scream.

"Yes ma'am" he replies.

I just fall back on the little hospital bed I was on, and immediately regret it.

It made a sharp pain shoot up my broken arm.

"Someone will come in soon to put your arm in a cast. But meanwhile, you have some very eager friends and family outside who would like to speak with you" the doctor says.

"Okay, please send them in."

•Hayes' POV•

We had been in the waiting room for about twenty minutes when the nurse came in.

"You can go in and see her now, but you must go in one at a time" she says.

I wanted to be the first to see her, but I knew I had to let her family go in before me.

Her mom went in first, then her dad, and her brother.

They each took about five minutes.

FINALLY it was my turn. I practically ran into her hospital room.

"Hayes!" she screamed as I engulfed her into my arms.

She winced as I squeezed her. Then I remembered, her arm!

"Oh my god Brittany I'm so sorry!" I completely forgot about her arm.

"It's okay" she says, smiling and grimacing at the same time.

It felt so good to be with her again.

"I missed you so much!" I say.

"It's been less than an hour!" she says.

"I know, but I still missed you like crazy" I reply.

Is it normal to miss someone so much, you fell like you might break? And you'd seen them less than an hour ago?

Probably not, but who cares!

"So are you okay?" I ask her.

"Yeah, I'm alright. Just my arm hurts. It's broken and I have to wear a cast for six weeks" she says.

"Awe that sucks."

"Yeah. And no more snowboarding. I won't be able to go out tomorrow" she says, frowning.

"Hayes" she says suddenly.

"Yeah?"

"I feel kinda bad, but I wanted you to be the first person to come in and see me" she says, blushing.

"Trust me, I wanted to come in first. I REALLY wanted to be the first person to see you, but I knew I had to let your family come before me. They were just as worried as I was" I say.

She smiles that beautiful smile of hers and her bright green eyes crinkle at the edges.

God, she was gorgeous. Even when she was in a hospital gown with her face all dirty. She was stunning.

Then the doctor came in, ruining the moment.

"Young man, you have to leave now. You've had longer time with our patient than is usually allowed. You're not the only one who wants to see her you know."

"Yes sir" I say.

I don't want to leave her side, but I know I have to.

I kiss her cheek and she smiles again. Then I slowly walked out of the room.
