The Day Everything Changed (Hayes Grier)

Chapter 9

•Nash's POV•

Will was starting to make me mad. He was purposely trying to keep me from talking to Brittany.

"Dude what's up with you? Why won't you let me get near Brittany?" I ask him.

"The last girl Hayes liked, you basically took from him. And she wasn't even nice to you guys! Hayes seems to really like Brittany and Brittany seems to really like Hayes. And she's way too young for you!" he says.

I think about what he said for a minute.

If I just agree with him and pretend to move on, he'll stop keeping us apart. Then I can make a move.

"Yeah, I guess you're right man. I should just let her go" I say.

"Thank you, let Hayes be happy for once" be replies.

We would most likely be seeing her and her family tonight for dinner. So I can talk to her then.

•Brittany's POV•

I was so excited for tonight. I couldn't believe our room was directly across from the Grier's!

Suddenly I heard my phone buzz.

Hayes: My mom said we can meet u guys for dinner tonight. What time?

Me: Yay! and idk yet. I'll ask my parents

Ahhh they could come!

"Mom, the Grier's are coming to dinner. What time are we leaving?" I ask.

"How about 6:30?" she responds.

"Okay sounds good. I'll tell Hayes."

So I text Hayes asking if 6:30 was a good time.

He responded a few minutes later saying it was fine.

What was I going to wear? Something casual I guess. The café wasn't fancy.

I decided on skinny jeans, a cream colored sweater, and my uggs.

I straightened my hair, put on some jewelry, a little makeup, and I was ready to go.

It was only 6:00 so I had a little bit of time to kill. I decided to just do stuff on my phone since there wasn't really anything else to do in our little condo.

So I picked it up and saw Hayes had texted me.

Hayes: hey can't wait for tonight😉

Me: me too!😄

Hayes: yeah. so what's up?

Me: nothing much. Wbu?

Hayes: same. What's your favorite candy?🍫🍫🍫

That was kind of a random question..

Me: deff chocolate lol. Why?

Hayes: oh you'll see ((:

What was he up to?

Me: haha ok then. Gtg, see ya soon

Hayes: bye babe👋

After that our conversation was over.

But omg did he just call me babe?!

I can't believe it. It was weird how just one word from him could make me feel so...special.

Was I starting to get real feelings for him? Not just fangirl feelings? I really wasn't sure, so I just ignored it for the time being.

•Hayes' POV•

I called her babe.

What the heck was I thinking?! She probably thinks I'm a freak or something.

I was rushing the whole 'us' idea. I just need to calm down and really get to know her better...and keep her away from Nash.

I had an idea though. Something special. But I was going to save it for later, sometime before we left the resort.

By now it was 6:25 and we had to leave.

Me, Nash, Will, Skylynn, and my mom all piled into our car and we drove to the café.

It only took us about two minutes to get there. It was very close.

Then we walked up the steps and into the restaurant.

Then I saw her. She was sitting at a table by herself. Which made me frown.

Why would she be all by herself? Then I realized there was one more chair at the table she was at. And it was empty.

I quickly walked/jogged over to her and sat down before Nash could.

She looked really pretty. Her long blonde hair was straight and down to her waist. Her bright green eyes were shining and she was smiling.

This was the first time I had actually seen her whole face. Before she always had on goggles or a face guard.

"Do you need a menu?" she asks.

"Yeah sure" I say.

She hands me a menu and I look it over.

We both ended up getting cheesburgers. Then we just talked. I felt like I could talk to her for hours without having one awkward moment.

I loved it.

I loved her.

Wait what?

How could I love a girl I've known for less than a day?

I wonder if she even likes me?

Probably not. She doesn't really know me and I'm not special or anything like that.

I wonder what she thinks of me?
