Chapter 15
Cameron's POV
For the rest of the night, I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was obviously a note from Jack. Who else would it be from? Who else would be out to get me? I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to tell Jay. That would just worry him more. He doesn't deserve that. He's done more than enough for me.
I don't deserve him.
I decided to hide the note somewhere safe for now. Until I decided what to do with it. What did this even mean? Was Jack back? He was supposed to be in jail. Or did he have one of his goons deliver it to me? Jacks bold. If he were to deliver it to me, he'd make sure I saw him. He'd want to see the fear in my eyes. It had to be someone working for him. I don't know. All I do know is that I'm in danger, once again.
Can't a girl get a break?
Jay should be home soon. I was starting to cook dinner for him. I decided to make his favorite. Chicken Alfredo. He was a simple man to please. Plus, he loved his pasta. My mind kept wondering about the note and about Jack, until I heard the front door being unlocked. Perfect timing too, dinner was almost ready. I was just waiting on the garlic bread to cool.
"Honey, I'm home!" Jay's cheerful voice erupted throughout our apartment.
I couldn't tell him. He's so happy.
"In the kitchen!" I yelled back. He walked in and stood behind me and put his arms around my waist and kissed my neck. I smiled and turned around to face him. My arms went up around his neck and I softly placed my lips onto his. "I made your favorite." His eyes looked at the stove and went wide in pure happiness.
"Oh my god, you're the best." He kissed my cheek and began to grab two plates for us. We sat down at the table and talked about our day as we ate our food.
How would I even begin to tell him? The last thing he needs is to worry about me, about Jack. I won't tell him.
"I love you." I interrupted him talking.
He smiled. "I love you too, Cam."
~~~~~
"Jay. Stop it."
"No."
"Jay."
"Don't Jay me."
"JAY."
"CAM."
"Fine. If you won't stop, you can't sleep with me tonight!"
"You couldn't stop me even if you tried, sweetie." He grinned. He knew I hated being called sweetie.
"That's it!" I stood up and threw our cards off the table. We were playing go fish and he kept taking all my cards. Well, I had had enough!
He bursted out laughing. "Hey, that's not fair! I was winning!"
"By cheating!!" I pointed my finger at him and furrowed my eyebrows.
"How could someone POSSIBLY cheat at go fish?"
I stopped to think. I turned around and saw the mirror behind me. I gasped and pointed at the mirror.
"THAT'S HOW YOU DAMN SNAKE!" He laughed even more and started to walk towards me. "NO! Stay AWAY! I don't associate with cheaters!"
"Oh, come on! It's just a game!" He was still laughing. I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest.
"It's just a game." I mimicked in a high pitched voice. That only made him laugh even more. I rolled my eyes and walked into our bedroom.
"Hey! Where are you going?" He yelled after me.
"Into MY room! Where you will not be sleeping! Because I don't sleep with cheaters!"
Stupid game. Stupid Jay. Stupid. I laid down on the bed and started to watch something on Netflix. He came into the room and looked at me. I used my hand to cover his body so I couldn't see him.
"Quit being like this. I'm sorry, Cam!" I just stuck my tongue out at him and continued watching the movie. I could see from the corner of my eyes that he was trying to give me a puppy dog look. I tried not to smile at that. When I didn't cave into it, he groaned loudly and threw his body onto mine. I groaned when all his weight hit my body.
"Jesus, Jay, how much do you weigh!" I tried to push his body off mine, but it wasn't working out.
"Well, I just ate a bunch of carbs, so I prefer not to say right now." He wrapped his arms around my body and laid his head on my chest. I watched his head fall and rise with every breath I took. His eyes were closed and he looked peaceful. "I'm sorry I cheated at go fish." He looked up at me sadly. I groaned and wrapped my arms around him.
"I guess I'll forgive you." I smiled and looked at him. His smile grew bigger and he crawled up to my face and planted a big wet one on my lips. I laughed and wiped my mouth after he stopped. "That was so gross." We both started to watch the movie and we eventually fell asleep together.
How could I possibly tell him?
