Chapter 21
Cameron's POV
"JAY! JAY, STOP IT!" I demanded as I tried to run away from him.
"NEVER!" He threw another water balloon at my body. It broke when it made contact with the back of my thigh.
"WHO EVEN DECIDED THAT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA!?" I turned around to face my attacker. "It's the middle of October!" Jay bursted out laughing and threw another one at my chest. "Ow!"
"This was your idea!"
"Well why did you listen to me!?" I questioned him.
"Because I love you!"
I stopped in my tracks and looked at him. I hated what I was doing to him. He was oblivious as to what will happen soon and it hurt me.
"I love you too, Jay." I walked up to him and wrapped my arms around him. He rested his chin on top of my head and gave me a big squeeze. A sudden gust of wind hit us and we both shivered. "Can we please go home? It's really cold." I pleaded. He looked down at me and smiled, then gave me a soft kiss.
"Of course we can."
~~~
We were currently cuddled under one blanket together in front of his oven with it on to get warm. We were both sipping on hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows floating around in it. He had one arm wrapped tightly around my waist, and the other holding his mug.
"Cameron, I'm so happy I found you." Jay said softly. My heart started to ache. I felt so guilty. "Really. You've changed me. You've made me a better person."
"Jay.."
"I just really love you, Cameron."
"I know, Jay..." I looked away from him in shame. "I love you too. More than you'll ever know."
"I want you to meet my family."
I looked down at my mug and started to trace the rim with my finger.
"When?" I asked quietly.
"In 2 weeks. They're coming into town and they really want to meet you. They're all so excited."
I hesitated. "I can't wait."
Now, I won't only be breaking his heart, but I'd be hurting his family too. This is great.
"Jay?" I looked up at him.
"Hmm?" He was sipping on his drink.
"I want you to know that I'd do anything to protect you."
"Cam-"
"No, listen, Jay. I need you to understand this. It's so important."
"Alright, what is it?"
"You've saved me countless of times. And I'm forever grateful. But I have to protect you too sometimes. And I just want you to know that I will always, always love you. No matter what. Do you understand?" He smiled softly at me.
"I understand." Then he pressed his lips against mine.
I didn't let him pull away. I needed more of him. In a few short days, I'll never be able to kiss him again. I'll never be able to hold him again. To touch him again.
I'll never be able to see him again.
So we didn't part. Our kissing became more intensified. More loving. We both became breathless, but we didn't stop to catch our breath.
