William watches you two quietly, seeming to actually agree with jim for once. You huffed, not wanting to hurt anyone, self defence or not..... but if it made jim feel better, then you'd... you'd look into it. ... a little. Jim smiled, then glanced back at William.
"Take the day off my dear. Go help your brother pack~ bring him back here by tonight." Jim states calmly, William sighed and slowly nodded in response.
"..... of course. .... alright. I'll... see you later." He mumbled, getting up and leaving, without another word of protest. You smiled, then glanced over at jim.
"... how's your shoulder?" You asked, tilting your head sideways slightly. Jim stares at you a moment blankly.
"... my dear, I don't know what happened last night, but I can assure you it won't happen again. Please refrain from making such interested comments, they have no place in our professional relationship." Jim stated. You stared at him silently for a moment in return, blinking slowly.
".... I get that you don't want to get close to anyone, because if you do, it puts them, and you in danger. You're afraid that it will be used as some sort of 'weakness' against you, but it's too late for that. It's already happening. No matter how much you try to distance yourself from me, it won't work. We're in this together, and nothing you say to push me away will work." You stated quickly, and honestly a little sternly. Jim slowly crossed his arms, staring at you blankly. Then Harvey came into the room.
"Oh- my apologies. Should I come back later—?" He asks, looking at Jim's stance and expression, and your more or less staring contest with him. After a few seconds, jim finally broke your gaze, and looked past you to Harvey.
"... no. Perfect timing. She's ready to come now, go ahead." Jim said, without another word sitting in his desk chair again. You watched him a second more, before sighing and going to Harvey.
"... he's right. Let's go." You said, walking out the door, soon followed by Harvey.
"Jesus, what the hell did you say to him?" Harvey asked, one eyebrow raising. You shook your head, frustrated and not wanting to talk about it. ... and you were also slightly worried about how mad Jim would be. .... likely a lot more than he was showing. Harvey looked at you, one eyebrow raised, but didn't say anything. He seemed pretty fine with your silence. He led you into a room, looking around a moment.
"Right. This is where you'll be 'training'. .... I saw you the other day when jim had to take you down. You got a lot of fight in you, so that's good."
"No, it's not." You mumble in response. Harvey stares at you again, as if trying to figure out why the heck jim even wanted you around here if you were so unenthusiastic about hurting others.
You sighed.
"... I'm sorry. I know I'm being rude. .... let's start over. Hello Harvey, I'm y/n, we met briefly the other day. It's nice to spend time with you and hopefully get to know you better." You smile, using as much friendliness as you could gather up. Harvey stares at you a moment, looking a little surprised and confused.
"...... alright." He stated simply in response, you kind of laughed softly at how... not social he was. Well... hopefully you could change that. It'd be nice to know more people here... Maybe you'd be able to create your own support group outside of jim, since he was extremely unreliable in that way, ahah..
