You coughed, writhing in pain as you came to your senses once again, feeling the pain of your slowly healing wound. Goddamnit, it hurt...you cringed, then slowly opened your eyes. Immediately your unadjusted vision was attacked by light with the intensity of a supernova. You slowly raised your hand to rub your eyes, wondering if you were dead. However, when your eyes finally grew accustomed to your surroundings, you were faced by immediate confusion of what the hell was going on.

Jim was holding you in his arms, while William, Alex, and Harvey were all hugging.

"What....... the hell." You proclaimed, astounded by the scene around you that made absolutely no sense. Jim smiled weakly, and pulled you close into his arms, in a tight hug. You blinked a few times, before you more or less remembered what had happened.

"..... hashtag not dead, sweetheart."  you stated, quoting jim from earlier when he had faked his own death. You felt jim tense up at the words, but you could tell he was beaming. After a moment however, as your memory came flooding back, you pushed yourself away from Jim's embrace.

"... wait. No. Stay away from me. You did this. .... you did this." You said, your eyes slowly narrowing. Sure, you were still in hella pain, but there was no way you'd let jim off the hook so easily.

"Y/n..."

"No, jim!! I don't want to hear it!! You tried to make me kill William or Alex!!"

"Y/n please, just hear me out..."

"What POSSIBLE excuse could you have for ANY of this?!! You lied about so many things, jim!! SO MANY. How am I supposed to trust a word you say after everything you've done?!!" You snapped, pushing yourself up to a seated position, forcing yourself to scootch away from him, to sit in front of the other boys protectively. They were all silent. Jim shook his head.

"Y/N!! Just let me talk, alright?? I have not lied to you about anything. Not a thing, alright? I told you that I didn't plan any of this... that I would never want to hurt you, William, Alex.. anyone! And I still don't. I-I don't know, I have no clue why I'm here or how I got here, but you need to know that I did NOT set ANY of this up." Jim more or less snapped, you could tell by the outburst that he likely was dealing with millions of emotions internally right now. Nonetheless, you glared at him.

"I can't believe you."

"Maybe he's telling the truth..." Alex piped up in a soft voice from behind you. You were about to snap at him to stay out of it, however you remembered how good Alex seemed to be at understanding others, their emotions, their feelings.. he knew how to read people, he was far better at knowing when someone was lying or manipulating others or what not. He knew everyone's tells, their fidgets, things they did when they weren't telling the truth. He observed and understood, since he seemed to have grown up feeling a lot of those emotions himself. You turned to him, raising an eyebrow. Alex looked at you, then crawled away from his dad, sitting by you.

"Maybe jim isn't lying... I think it's a possibility that maybe he has some sort of split personality like I do, but doesn't realize it yet.. that's what happened with me at first. I would turn up in places I had no reason to be, without any remembrance of going there. Until someone pointed it out to me, and we worked it all out, I had absolutely no idea. ... I also don't think it's fair to completely rule out the possibility that jim isn't doing any of this. It seems unlikely, but it's still possible he's being framed." Alex shrugs.

"Really there's a lot of different things that could be going on... But he seems pretty sincere..." Alex looked up at jim, who was silently looking at the ground. You sighed, knowing Alex was right. For a 10 year old boy, he sure was a clever little thing. All three boys had their quirks though. Alex was really good at determining emotions, William was really good at determining backstory and where people came from/what have been doing the past few minutes, and Harvey was really good at determining motive/what people are going to do in the future.

Jim..... well.... he seemed to be good at all of those things. ... which scared you a bit, but... also attracted you, ahah.

"... I guess you're right, Alex. ... jim, don't think for one second that I'm not pissed about this entire situation. .... but if you say you didn't do it, then so be it. ... you'll get one more chance. We'll all be keeping an eye on you though. Every move you make, every step you take, I'll be watching you." You threatened, unwittingly quoting a song by The Police back in the day. Jim nodded, then smiled.

"... alright." He replied, although he didn't seem like his normal peppy, teasing, quirky self. He was quieter, you'd almost say he was traumatized by your near death. ... wait. How are you alive.

You glance over at William, who gives you a quick 'I'll catch you up on everything later' sort of look, and you nod gratefully. .... but your mind kept switching back to jim. Alex was certainly right. Jim could very well have a split personality.. it completely makes sense. You'd need more proof though, before coming to a sound conclusion.

.... poor jim. ..... you felt bad for him, really. He seemed so broken. ... there was the chance that this was all an act, that jim actually was some hideous, terrible monster, but.. right now it certainly didn't seem like it. No one could fake how broken jim seemed. Broken on the inside, anyways. On the outside, he was blank as always. But you and Alex seemed to notice the difference.

..... you'd make jim some tea when you got back to his office. ... that outta cheer him up.
