The Rhythm Divine

It was Friday night and close to 10 pm in Max's club. May and Ruby were sitting at a corner table having a quiet conversation with the sound proof bubble activated. They were waiting for the live show.

Argon and his new girlfriend joined them in the quiet bubble. Argon introduced Amore to May and Ruby. Amore was a tall strong Amazonian brunette who didn't look like his normal skinny type and she wore no colors. They had met at hospital. Amore had to work on his fractured wrist after he had hurt it while chopping down a tree in the fringes. Argon held up the glowing white plaster cast in the neon lights of the club.

"Let's go" May said and led Ruby onto the dance floor in front of the band.

Dieter yelled "Hello" at the audience.

"Hello" the audience yelled back.

"For tonight something very special", Dieter said and looked over at Boris at the keyboards, Boris gave a thumbs up. Dieter carried on talking, "Singing it is Shirley and she is going to sing you an amazingly divine song, everyone, give a warm welcome to Shirley". The whole audience gave enthusiastic applause.

Ruby turned and looked May straight in the eyes, it was that look that didn't need words. The rhythm of the song was slow so it was a couple's song. The singles abandoned the dance floor and May drew Ruby gently to the center of the floor. May and Ruby looked at each other and moved closer, the rhythm of the music moved their bodies slowly. They were still looking into each others' eyes and drew each other closer. Ruby and May moved in unison, their bodies in tune.

Ruby and May were intertwined with the music, their bodies flowing to the slow violet shades moving across the dance floor. Ruby rested her head on May's shoulder as they danced. May smelt oh so nice, the music pulsed soft violet temptation around them.

Shirley's singing swirled around them and enfolded them softly. Ruby and May drew apart and looked at each other while dancing, the violet light sang across Ruby's face and the big tattoo of Maw glowed a warm red on Ruby's back.

"Hello beautiful" May said softly to Ruby. The lighting dipped between dark blue and hazy purple as they danced in their own universe. "Hello beautiful" Ruby replied and kissed May, a long one that would have made anyone watching them tell the two them to get a room.

One of the band members was whistling the tune when they stopped kissing. They carried on dancing slowly for the rest of the song. May rubbed a small tear out of Ruby's eye, May tasted the salt of Ruby's tear on her tongue. When the song ended May and Ruby went to the 'please don't disturb we're making out' section of the club. There were long couches in private niches in this section of club. There were no waiters either; the room was designed for the privacy of the couples on the couches.

Sometime after 4 in the morning Ruby woke, she had fallen asleep on May's lap. Ruby looked up at her beautiful May and just lay there looking at her for a few minutes before waking her.

On their way out they saw Amore and Argon sitting at a table, they were actually having a serious conversation while snacking and drinking coffee. "I've got mine" Ruby thought to herself, "have you got yours?"

Everyone went to barbeque at 1's place at noon on Saturday. Daddy and mother were helping 1 in the kitchen. May was attending to the fire while Ruby and Jill dressed the tables, they had left Argon and Amore smooching on the couch in the lounge. Amore always had to be on top while they were kissing because of the cast on Argons arm, Ruby wondered who wore the cast in her relationship with May.

Ruby passed Jill's usual drink over to Jill, Jill shook her head and passed it back to Ruby. May looked at Jill and asked, "You're pregnant aren't you?"

"Shhhh" Jill whispered holding her finger up to her lips, "I haven't told anyone". Jill smiled a serious smile, "I am telling 1 tomorrow".

1 actually enjoyed having Argon around for the day seeing Argon avoided the barbeques with a passion. "Maybe Argon is introducing Amore to the parents" 1 joked to Daddy when they were standing around the fire. Argon had moved the hammock closer to the fire after the sun had disappeared.

Ruby and May left very early that evening, when 1 asked why they had to leave so early Ruby said they had to be up very early as she had a surprise for May. Amore and Argon didn't hear May say goodbye when they left, Amore and Argon were too busy smooching in the hammock.

May and Ruby had a long early morning bath together. Long after all the bubbles had disappeared May asked what the surprise was and Ruby told her to be patient, they dressed and Ruby drove her transport wagon.

May had to sit still with the blindfold for more than half an hour, Ruby kept a check that May wasn't trying to wiggle off the blindfold with her eyebrows.

Ruby hovered the wagon at the height of the second level of Silkwood. She softly guided May onto the wooden porch and took off May's blindfold.

Argon had finished a small guest apartment for Ruby so that Ruby could move into Silkwood as soon as possible. The guest apartment was a fully functional home; Argon's boys had worked shifts to get it done in the two weeks. The apartment was twice as big as May's apartment and comfortable, not luxurious. Ruby said they would add luxuriousness to the small apartment after Ruby and May moved into the main home.

Ruby and May did a slow dance in the small kitchen, May tried to get Ruby in the mood for love but Ruby gently pushed May's arms away and said "Not now lover, we have to move over first".

It took the whole day to move all their things over even though Ruby had hired packers and movers for each of them. By 9 that evening May decided to give up for the day after Ruby had made up the big double bed with fresh sheets.

Ruby put LD50's cage on May's small wooden kitchen table and they ate a quick meal that Ruby had prepared. LD50 took a slice of raw mushroom from Ruby and munched on it while looking around the room, May said LD50 was wise enough to know it was his new home.

Ruby wanted to show May the 4th level of Silkwood. They walked up the stairs and smelt the weed crop at the third level. On the 4th level Mr. Slick and Mr. Knife were standing guard over the cannabis crop. Ruby said "Hi" and introduced May to the quiet men. May sniffed a cannabis head and said "This stuff is so strong it will fry your brain". Mr. Slick told them the strain was called "Skull crusher", it couldn't be smoked on its own it was so potent, there was a Mentat stoner on the edge of town that smoked it pure though. For normal users it had to be 'watered down' and mixed in with other strains to "Give it that extra bit of Mule kick".

Ruby said Max paid good money to rent the level and it was legal income after all, it also provided work for the guards who had to protect crop as well. May giggled then Ruby led May to the side that looked over town with all the sparkly lights. The little lights sparkled and twinkled, Ruby and May sat on the edge and held hands, they didn't speak and watched the lights of the night traffic in the town.

At about 11pm May was getting tired. "I need for us to go and lie down and sleep" May said. Soon enough they were sleeping soundly in the big bed and LD50 ran his nightly marathon in the hamster wheel.
