Trevor's P.O.V.
At first I thought someone was having a cook out. But then I realized that it was almost midnight.
I hopped out of bed and crept to my door. Since my room happened to be on the first floor, I could see the faint shadow of smoke slipping beneath my door.
I froze.
The public schools always had a big seminar once a year to prepare us for a household fire, but I never paid attention.
Muffled screams came from upstairs. Katheraine, Connor, and Kayla were all on the third floor. I slapped my forehead and instantly regretted getting such a huge house.
Without a second thought, I ran out the my door and up the stairs. My feet were burning, but I couldn't feel a thing. "Fire!" I yelled, knowing I couldn't get to Kayla and Connor in time.
My palms slammed into the guest room door and I flung the door open. A huge crash made me take a step back as I watched the ceiling crumble. "Katheraine!"
She laid on the ground, unconscious, not even a foot from where the ceiling crushed her bed. Thank god.
What do I do? What do I do? I pulled Kat up and backed out of the room, not bothering to close the door. The stairs miraculously hadnt erupted in flames, so I ran down. My feet were literally sizzling.
Both doors were blocked. The smoke was so thick. My eyes were watering and my throat was starting to burn. So this is it? This is how it ends?
I slid down the wall I found myself leaning against and closed my eyes.
Then I remembered that if this was Ricky's room, then there was a small window beside his bed.
With the last bit of strength I had, I threw something solid at the window and heard the satisfying crunch of glass. I vaulted out the broken window, ignoring the cuts, with Katheraine in tow.
Kayla's P.O.V.
It was so hot.
One minute Connor and I were about to hit a home run, the next he was dragging me through the burning building. He headed for the stairs, but seconds before we reached the railing, a huge piece of debris fell.
We both froze. I could feel hot tears running down my face. Connor turned around and ran into Kians bedroom. The second I saw the huge balcony leading outside, my heart stopped.
"No way." I watched as Connor popped the doors open, pulling me out.
"Kayla, it's the only way." He begged. For the briefest of moments I looked down. Bad decision.
"Come on." He pulled against me while I just clutched Connors shirt tighter and didn't move any closer to the edge.
A huge crash came from the house. "Kayla, please!"
A second later the huge orange flames had devoured Kians bedroom, but there was no way I could jump.
I had my mind set to accept death, then I realized Connors face. He had tears running down his face and a look of desperation clouding his eyes. That changed my mind.
"I love you." I told him and crushed my lips to his, one last time.
"Together?" He asked, holding out his hand.
"Together." I said and twined our fingers, jumping off the balcony.
As we fell the rush took my breath away. It felt like I could fly. I felt like someone from a fairytale.
All fairytales had to end somewhere, and my ending happened to be the ground.
Kyndell's P.O.V.
"Go to Sam." I told Jc as I held a crying Kian.
"But we agreed it was best to separ-"
"Go to Sam!" I yelled.
With that Jc pulled away from Hardy's, food completely forgotten.
Kian hadn't stopped sobbing had I felt like screaming. Usually Kian was the leader, he always knew just what to do, but now that he had been reduced to a blubbering mass, the pressure was on me.
I didn't know if this was the right thing to do, but it was all I could think of. And I really wanted to see Sam.
Sam.
It had only been two days, but I already missed him. Sam was my oxygen, and I had been deprived. Without Sam, things just fall apart.
Which brings me back to my current situation: Kian's sister.
Sarah was an amazing little girl. We had Skyped a few times, and she always asked about Kian. She really loved her big brother, and Kian's world revolved around his little sister.
She didnt deserve this. No one deserved Neal, but Sarah really didn't. With that my mind started to roam over the many horrible memories of my lifetime.
My exterior started to break and I let myself silently cry with Kian.
