Sam's P.O.V.
The second I felt the warm rays of sunlight, tears almost started falling from my eyes. Almost. I knew what the daylight meant. Kyndell was leaving.
Kyndell laid beside me, gripping my arm. She looked so innocent, yet beautiful. It only took one glace at her to make several emotions shoot through me: happiness, depression, shock, excitement, hope, comfort, love and... other things.
I gently shook her awake and watched as she yawned, shaking her head. She smiled up at me and I attempted smiling back. I could see reality hitting her as her face dropped.
Wordless, we both started getting ready to leave. My feet felt like weights, each step a strain on my mental capacity.
My head told me that this was the best solution, but my heart said otherwise.
Once we were done packing, Kyndell and I walked through the hallway and entered Kian and Ricky's room.
"I got the car." Jc announced as we walked inside.
"How'd you just 'get a car'?" I asked. God knows we don't need something else illegal in our lifes.
"I have many friends, you know, YouTube famous and all." Jc said, trying to lighten the mood.
"We've got to get going..." Kian pushed, and I almost hit him. Kyndell groaned and stood up, tugging me along with her.
The walk down to the parking garage went by way too fast. Parked beside the van was a navy blue jeep.
"We'll, uh... give you some privacy..." Ricky stated, hopping in the jeep.
Once all eyes were distracted, I felt Kyndell's small frame wrap around my body. I held her there, placing my chin on her head.
"This isn't forever." She spoke, looking at me with her icy blue eyes.
"I know." I managed a smile, a weak smile, but a smile nonetheless.
I slowly bent down and brought her mouth to mine with as much passion as I could summon. Every time we kissed, nothing else seemed to exist. Just her, just Kyndell. Distantly, I felt her hands in my hair, but that was a lightyear away.
All too soon, oxygen became a problem and we separated. The look in her eyes made me want to drop everything and go with her, but since that wasn't an option, I just hugged her one last time.
"If you ever need anything, and I mean anything, one call and I'll be there." I whispered into her ear. She nodder into my shoulder.
"I love you, Sam." She breathed and I almost broke down. Those words meant so much to me, coming from the only girl I'd ever love.
"I love you too." I repeated and gave her one last squeeze before I turned and entered the jeep, not turning back.
Joanna's P.O.V.
I'd done bad things before. Extremely bad things. But every law I'd ever broke paled in comparison with what I was seconds away from doing.
You could turn back now, I thought to myself, You could run. I almost laughed, running from Neal was like a bleeding man running from a shark, he would find me, and it wouldn't be pretty when he did.
I wondered how many lifes I would ruin if I went through with this plan. At least seven. Maybe more.
Neal had promised that if Sidney, Astrid, and I succeeded on this mission we would be free. Free of everything, yet I still hesitated.
Internal conflict erupted. I could either choose humanity or I could choose my freedom.
I walked to the door.
Astrid's P.O.V.
"Hey!" I yelled, making the young girl stop and turn, her dark pigtails flying.
"My name's Astrid, I just moved here." I said, pointing down the block. "I don't have many friends so my mommy told me to invite some kids over." I smiled.
"Okay!" The girl agreed with a sympathetic look.
As we walked she talked about her family and her pets and other little girl things. She was a good kid.
My heart broke as I sealed her fate.
