Kian's P.O.V.  (Five minutes earlier)

I had been walking down the dark halls with Astrid for at least ten minutes and I was growing impatient. "Astrid! This is taking forever!" I whispered, clenching my fists in frustration.

"I promise we're almost there." Astrid said, picking her pace up to a run. Our goal was to find my sister and get her out. We had the easy part. My stomach knotted as I thought about what Kyndell was doing. She hadn't exactly told me her plans, but I'm pretty good at reading between the lines. Sam would personally kill me if anything happened to her. I said a silent prayer and followed Astrid into a little closet-like room. My heart stopped.

My baby sister was lying in the corner, curled up in a ball. Not moving.

"Sarah?" I rushed over to her and shook her shoulder. "Sarah!," I yelled after she didnt respond. Tears pooled up in my eyes and I started shaking. This wasn't happening.

"K-Kian?" My head snapped up, "Is it really you?" Her voice was so raspy, as if she hadn't had a drink in days.

"Yeah, it's me baby." My voice cracked. We both had tears falling from our identical brown eyes.

"Kian, I'm hungery..." She whimpered, trembling in my arms.

"I know sweetheart, let's get you out of here." I picked her up and followed Astrid farther down the hallway.

We ran until we finally got to a surprisingly expensive-looking room that reminded me of a reception room. The only thing that seemed out of place was a huge hole in the ground. The second Astrid noticed the opening she gasped and cussed outloud. Her face showed that something was drastically wrong.

"What's going on Astrid?" I asked, worry starting to cloud in my brain.

"Kyndell is an idiot, that's what's going on! You need to get out of here. Like now." She nodded towards a window and motioned for us to leave.

I glanced down at Sarah and made the worst decision of my life. "Take Sarah and go, I'll get Kyndell."

Astrid looked releived and nodded, "I'll take care of her, don't worry Kian." I smiled and gave both of them a hug.

"I love you guys."

"I love you too Ki-Ki."

"Yeah, what she said."

I sighed and watched their little bodies crawl through the window and start running. Moving closer to the hatch, I listened carefully. As I suspected I heard someone scrambling around directly below the opening. The semi-invisable ladder conecting to the hole moved, letting me know someone was climbing. I readied myself to attack.

Before I had even seen the person a gun flew out of the hatch and landed at my feet. A few seconds later a blond head popped into view and I quickly picked the gun up. "Don't move or I'll shoot." I commanded once she made eye contact with me. She froze and nodded.

"I want you to get up and leave." She nodded once again and started to walk away. "One more thing!" I yelled, making her pause. "Have you seen a girl about my age, long dark hair, not normally around here?" She shook her head and retreated toward the exit.

I stared down into the lightless gap in the floor, contemplating whether or not to go down. For some odd reason my mind knew that Kyndell needed me, so I took a deep breath and desended into the dark.

My ears  picked up footsteps and I silently followed them. They were coming from around a corner. A dim light shined in from where the noise was coming.

Without warning a figure jumped out of the shadows, stunning me momentarily. It was Kyndell. She looked so confident, but all of a sudden she froze. Her eyes became twice their normal size and I could only imagine what she was thinking.
