"Tonight we celebrate fifty years of our freedom!" The crowd cheers, with huge smiles across their faces. Hazel stands in front of her pack, leaning over the microphone. "We are also very privileged to have some members of the Dustfall pack join us tonight, along with their Alpha, Quinton Porter," Hazel looks down to the front of the stage, where Quinton stands with a proud smile.
"I want everyone to enjoy tonight, but remember our freedom is under threat. Oscar Hays wants to take our land. Claim our home," her voice echoes through the hall. "He wants to be the ruler of every member that walks this land. Hays wants to have the strongest pack to exist. It's our job to make sure this doesn't happen! I believe we can stop him! That we, as a pack, are stronger together! With the help of Dustfall we will defeat them, some may doubt us, but I, Hazel Larson, have every bit of faith in every single one of you," she smiles and makes eye contact with many members. "Tonight we will celebrate. Tomorrow we will work to defeat."
The crowd cheers loudly with their wine glasses raised to the ceiling. With pride in her stride, she walks off the stage. Catrina stands at the bottom of the steps of the stage. "Short, but affective. I like it," she states, pulling her into a hug.
"Thanks Catrina," Hazel pulls away with a huge toothy smile across her face.
"Well done Honey," her mother, Dervla smiles. "Now it's time for the bonfire!" Dervla says like an excited teenage girl.
Quinton appears from among the crowd with huge proud smile. "Hazel where did your father disappear to? I wanted to speak with him."
"I didn't see him when I was on stage," Hazel frowns. She glances around the people, but doesn't see the familiar face of her father. "Maybe he went to the toilet," Hazel shrugs.
"It's fine. We don't need James," her mother mutters quietly. "We can have fun without him!" Dervla loudly tells them this time. Grabbing Hazel's hand, she pulls her towards the huge wooden, castle like doors of the grand and glamorous hall.
What is happening?
Everyone follows in one huge crowd to go outside, where the huge bonfire stands. It's a couple a meters high, with long sticks forming an almost tipi tent shape. The heat of the fire warms everyone surrounding. People hold glasses in their hands, some swaying to the music and others talking and laughing loudly.
"Hazel this is amazing!" Quinton exclaims, as he stands up in front of the huge bonfire. Hazel smiles.
"It's all down to my pack, they built it," Hazel turns around to face Quinton.
"They did a great job!" He grins. "Let's get a drink," he grabs Hazel's hand and pulls her through the crowd. Hazel's hand tingles and her stomach flips. Even though she is breaking every rule she made for herself, Hazel just couldn't help but smile.
Quinton let's go and grabs two of the plastic cups. He begins to fill the cups and then passes one to Hazel. "Thanks."
"Your welcome," they stand awkwardly looking at each other. Hazel takes a sip from her drink. "Lets dance," Quinton grabs her hand once again.
"I'm not a fan of dancing," Hazel shouts over the loud music and chatter.
"Well then, right now you are," he pulls a toothy smile. "May I have this dance Malady?" He bows down with his hand in front of him.
Hazel grins and looks down. She slowly places her hand in his and he pulls her close. Quinton rests his hands gently on her waist and Hazel hesitantly places her arms around his shoulders.
Hazel hates that she's betraying herself, but at the same time this all feels so right. Hazel can't even describe how happy she feels in this moment. A stupid grin is plastered across her face and the bubbling feeling of happiness inside her, how could she really stop herself?
Quinton twirls Hazel around and she loudly laughs. Dancing slowly to a song, that is no way even consider to be slow. Hazel just couldn't help but to laugh. Her beautiful laughter fills Quinton's ears, bringing a soft smile to his face. He brought her close again. "Hazel... why can't it be like this all the time?"
Hazel looks away for a moment. Meeting his gorgeous eyes again, she opens her mouth to respond. "Hazel!" Hazel jumps back from Quinton, forgetting where she is. Who she is among. The sparks disappear and for some reason she suddenly becomes cold. Turning to the voice she was met with a concerned pair of eyes.
"Is everything ok?" Hazel questions Noah, taking a step closer.
"Catrina has gone into labour!" He exclaims, with excitement glistening in his eyes. Hazel eyes widen. "We need you! Come on!" Noah runs and pushes his way back through the crowd, like he's invincible to the world. Hazel looks back to Quinton and gives him a side ways smile. Before disappearing into the large group of dancing bodies.
Quinton places his hand on his forehead and sighs. Nothing is ever simply with you.
Hazel rushes into the packs ward. "Hazel!" Catrina calls out.
"Hey," shes makes her way over to the bed. Noah sat anxiously. He holds Catrina's hand in both of his hands, massaging his thumbs on her palm. Catrina places a hand on her whale of a bump and rubs small circles. "How are you feeling?" Hazel rolls her lips.
"Pretty excited, I'm a tiny bit scared," Catrina admits.
"You'll be ok. Soon you'll have a baby," Hazel smiles. Catrina grins and looks over to Noah. He smiles back.
"It's gonna be a boy," Noah tells her.
"A boy? Nope, I can sense it, it's a girl!" Catrina raises an eyebrow.
"It's a boy," Noah mumbles. Catrina glares at him, then looks back at Hazel.
"What do you think?" She asks Hazel. Hazel is surprised for a second.
I really didn't want to cause an argument.
"I'm not sure. You'll find out soon though," Hazel shrugs with a smile. Catrina scrunches her face up in pain as a contraction passes. After it passes she looks over to Noah.
"I still think the baby is a girl."
A/N Super happy that my book is at 500 views!
Sorry for the lack of updates, I had to rewrite a chapter as it got deleted. But I rewrote it. I also realised that I have been spelling Catrina's name with a 'K' and not a 'C'. I don't know how that happened. But you know what can you do?
So I also have to go back fix that. :)
Hope you enjoyed the chapter. Don't forget to vote and comment your thoughts!
