There (Haunted)

Chapter forty-two

Silently I stand in the hallway, my heart beating, i'm frozen on the spot. I can't move, I know I need to help the others but somethings telling me I have to stay.

Suddenly the lights begin to flicker. On. Off. On. Off. And they stay off.

Black as the nights sky. I can't see anything in the basement. But soon enough the lights flicker on again. On. Off. They go.

"William, Jenna, Theo take Harry and go!" I scream.

I know who's coming. I know what's going to happen to me, but I know if they stay here she'll kill them, not me. I half did as I was told. I didn't ask for help. Although Abigail did give me what I needed. My cousins back. And now she knows, Rose knows what happened.

I see Jenna run down the dark, dingy, gloomy corridor and up the stairs her footsteps echoing. Theo runs after her but stops before the stairs and turns back to look at me.

"I'm not leaving you here!" He shouts.

"You have to!" My voice full of desperation.

He takes a deep breath then runs.

The lights turn off completely and i'm alone in the large basement. Suddenly it goes cold, freezing. Shivers are sent down my spine and goose bumps appear on my skin.

"Go away Rose. You don't scare me." I shout, I now she's here with me now.

"I thought I did." She whispers, I know shes smirking by the tone of her voice.

"No, like I said to Abigail, the things you could of done to my cousins worried me." I say calmly.

"Oh, what like..." I feel her lean closer to my ear, "kill them?" She says sharply.

"Rose! Just face the fact, you've lost. We won. You've been beaten. You had you chance to kill Harry but you just played with it for to long." I snap. "You lost." I say slowly and grin.

"Harry's not the one I wanted to kill. And my work might already be done." She whispers.

Suddenly the lights turn on. I don't hear Rose anymore so I know shes gone.

I let a sigh of relief out until a black cloud forms in front of me. It grows bigger and bigger until its about 3 times the height of me. It quickly forms into a figure, a dark figure, a hooded figure.

I can't see its face because the hood is covering it. The thing wears a long thin black cloak which covers its whole body and it looks down on me.

The creature takes a step forward but I stand my ground. It reaches behind and grabs a long black stick around the size of him with a curved piece if metal on the end. A scythe (I can't spell it).

It's death.

But I'm not going to die, unless Rose was talking about killing me.

But what did she actually mean by Harry wasn't her target? Did she mean me? Or, oh crap. William! She meant William! And she's already got him!

I sprint out of the basement, leaving death stand hopelessly in the middle until he turns back into the grey cloud and disappears.

Up the winding stairs I go. All the way to the top and I fling open the little door leading to the spear room.

There I see Abigail standing by the window, Theo sitting beside a fainted Harry and Jenna crying over a pale William. His body slumped there hopelessly, his hands by his side, his back against the wall and his eyes are closed.

"What happened?" I ask, my voice shaky.

5 minutes earlier

Jenna's POV

"Come on we need to get out of here." I say.

"Come on then, we need to get you and Harry to the hospital." William begins to rush up the stairs holding my younger brother in his arms.

I begin to walk up the stairs, I will defiantly be forgetting this place down here.

I know for a fact Theo tried to get Becca to come with us, I have no idea why she stayed.

Finally we get to the top of the stairs, William pushes open the door and we step into the cold room.

There I see a blonde haired girl. Bear the window she stairs at us grinning.

"Oh crap." William says under his breath.

"Who's that?" I whisper.

"That's Rose. She's the one who tried to kill you two." He says.

"Oh that's Rose!" a voice behind me says.

I look behind to see Theo has caught up with us, his face full of terror.

Rose grins, "Hello William. You know I've wanted to do this for a very long time."

As soon as she says that she lifts her hands up. Harry falls to the floor and William is lifted up in the air. His eyes close immediately.

And I scream.

Rose moves her hands to the left and William body flies against the back wall, he slumps to the ground.

She laughs but then disappears.

I run towards his body, and so does Theo.

Tears come rushing out if my eyes, right now I know it sound awful but I really couldn't care about Harry.

"We need to get him to the hospital." Theo urges me to get up.

"What happened to William?" a creepy girls voice suddenly appears.

Sharply I turn my head to see a younger girl with pale skin, long black scruffy hair, a white dress with a blood stain and black eyes. She must be dead.

"W-who are you?" I stutter.

"My name is Abigail, William knows who I am." she says.

Just then the little door we can through opens and Becca appears.

"What happened?" she ask, her voice shaky.

And I tell her.

Now

Becca's POV

"We need to get out of here." I say. "Meet me downstairs, I'll call the ambulance and get my mum."

Theo and Jenna nod.

"Abigail, please make sure Rise doesn't come back." I say and I walk out.

"I will make sure. Don't you worry." she smiles, that's the first time I've seen her smile.

It's a pain full smile. It's saying she needs to get out, to escape, to die a final time. Sometimes I know what she means.

I walk out if the room but stick my head around one last time.

"Oh and Abigail, thank you." I say.

"For what?" she asks.

"For everything." I say one final time before rushing down the stairs.
