Slick blonde hair styled back. Slightly greasy looking from all the product he's used. He wears a white polo shirt with a blue line going through the collar, the buttons all done up and he wears scruffy denim quarter length shorts. He looks so familiar yet I have no idea who he is!
Honestly he doesn't look like a police officer, he's in casual clothing.
Seriously who is he and why is he with my dad?
All the other police officers collect up the tent and Shadow's brother's things. I had a killer living in my forest, well a living killer, Charles is dead. I'm surprised Charles didn't try to scare Shadow's brother away, I suppose they both have something in common.
"Honey, I need to take a call, okay, I'll be back in a second, I need to talk to you." My dad says then he walks over to a tree opposite the direction of the tents, leaving me here with Marshall, oh and William.
"It's okay, I'm still here." William whispers in my ear.
My eyes go wider as I realise I've turned to look at him, I snap away and face Marshall with his eyes narrowed at me. Crap, I forgot he was there. Please don't question me about that!
"You okay? It looks like you've seen a ghost!" Marshall asks, his eye still narrowed on me.
"Oh, right, nope. No ghost." you're used to that, my mind adds. "I just forgot to do something that's all."
"You know when you were younger my mum used to babysit you and I used to come round and help, well I would just play with you baby toys as a 4 year old would and you would laugh for hours!" Marshall tells me.
That's where I know him from!
"That's right! Your dad is my dad's boss!" I say quickly like a light bulb has just appeared above my head.
"Oh well done!" He says a little sarcastically.
I look over to my dad and Marshall turns round, my dad's now shouting through the phone so we both look away. He's a little scary when he's angry.
"So actually how old are you?" I ask.
"18, Rebecca do the maths, when you were born I was 4 and now your 14, so 4 plus 14 equals..." He starts to use hand gestures and a dumb tone in his voice.
"Okay! Okay! I get it!" I interrupt him.
"Becs, run, you need to run, hide or something. Charles knows your here!" William harshly whispers.
"I need to go." I say quickly and begin to walk past Marshall.
But I stop dead track when a few metres in front of me is the ghost of a young man.
"Crap." I whisper and begin to run back to where I stood before, Marshall follows my every move.
I have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, unless I go up into a tree! It's my only option.
To be honest I don't even know why I'm running away from him, oh right yeah, if he's anything like Rose and Aaron I might be dead in seconds.
I begin to climb up the nearest tree, Marshall shouting my name continuously.
Finally I get up to a strong, sturdy branch and sit there. I jump a little when Marshall sits next to me, wow he's quick at climbing!
"Okay, what is going on?" He ask, breathing heavily.
"I- I thought I saw Shadow's brother." I lie.
"Shadow?"
"Oh crap, did I say that out loud? That's the killers half brother, someone told me about how he killed his brother and dressed him in black, so I nicknamed him Shadow as I don't know the real killers name." I lie again.
"Zeke."
"What?"
"That was his brothers name. Zeke. The killers name is Jay."
"Oh."
I grip onto the branch then look down, we're about 10 feet up, not that high, but I suppose we're safe enough. But when I look down, I see Charles standing there, looking up at me.
"Charles!" I shout then cover my mouth.
Dammit I need to stop shouting out there names!
"What? Who's Charles?" Marshall now looks really confused.
"Flip sake!" I shout and I hear him chuckle next to me.
But when I look down Charles is looking at something else. Slowly I look to where he's looking.
"Oh my god." I shout and begin to fall back by luckily Marshall pulls me back up.
"Thanks." I say.
"What did you see?" He asks.
"Oh I just saw how high up we are, to be honest it's not that bad." I lie for like the third time today to his face.
I look back down to see Jay, the killer standing there, his nose bleeding and cuts on his head. Police officers surround him, only two but they're quite young as well, maybe 30. Them too have cut heads.
Oh, the car! They were all in the car! There was a car crash and they died!
I begin to push myself off the branch and I feel myself falling. Finally I hit the ground and I roll on the floor to stop most of the force. Quickly I run towards my dad.
"How did you jump that?" He asks shocked
I shrug, "Dad have you got any word back from the car?"
"No not yet, they must be running late, I would've heard from them by now." He says.
Marshall runs next to us and so does Charles. Uh oh.
"They've crashed!" I say completely ignoring Charles.
"What? How do you know?"
"Well I thought Jay was here didn't I? I seem to be getting a few things right today?"
"She's right, we should at least check." Marshall says.
My dad nods and begins to walk away. "Marshall can you take Becca home?" He shouts back whilst still walking.
My dad hurries off and me and Marshall walk back towards the house.
"Who's Charles?" Marshall asks me.
"What?" uh oh.
"You said his name earlier?"
"Do you believe in ghosts?"
"If I didn't why would I write a book about a boy who can see ghosts."
"Oh so I guessing you do then. But 100 years ago there was this family who lives here, a mother father and their triplets, Ben, Abigail and Charles. But three kids killed Abigail, and Charles was one of them. They then killed the mother and father and Ben ran away, in total they killed around 10 people. But Charles just reminded me of Jay because he was said that Charles got hanged here but really died 72 years later, aged 80 of cancer." I tell him.
"Wow, I'm a little speechless!"
"But don't you worry, ghosts aren't real." I lie.
