Sam's POV

Every now and again I would glance at Arianna who was cuddled with her lamb. Occasionally she would cover eyes with its body.

"Are you sure you want to watch this?" I ask making her adjust her glasses.

"I'm fine." The protest was weak so I pressed the stop button.

"I was getting tired of it." I excuse and she smiles.

"I'm just gonna go to the bathroom," She says and slips off the bed.

As the door closes I get out my cellphone to call the roadhouse.

"Harvelle's Roadhouse." Ellen's voice filtered through the phone along with a bustle of patrons.

"Hey Ellen, it's Sam Winchester."

"Sam, it is good to hear from you. You boys are okay, right?" I felt grateful to hear that she worried about Dean and I.

"Yeah, everything's fine. I just have a question," I ask hopefully.

"Sure, shoot."

"You ever run across a hunter named Gordon Walker?" There was a small silence.

"Yeah, I know Gordon."

"And?" I question hoping she would elaborate.

"Well, he is a good hunter. Why are you asking, sweetie?" The same concern for earlier settled into her voice.

"Well, Dean and I ran into him on a job; we are kind of working with him now. I guess," I say not sure myself.

"Don't do that Sam." Her stern voice cut through the muffled static and bar noise.

"I thought you said 'he was a good hunter'," I ask confused and frowning.

"Yeah, and Hannibal Lecter is a good psychiatrist. Look, he is dangerous to everyone and everything around him. If he's working on a job you boys just let him handle it and you move on," Ellen says her tone not wavering.

What had Gordon done that made him bad news? He did seem to enjoy being a hunter, but so did Dean.

"But Ellen-"

"No, Sam. Listen to what I am telling you; Okay?" Her voice had hardened further leaving me no room to respond.

"Right, Okay," I say defeated.

Arianna comes out of the bathroom in a set of pajamas with a concerned look.

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah, I was just talking to a family friend." I excuse before sliding the phone back into my pocket.

"Family seems to means a lot to you guys," She says settling on the bed across from me.

"Yeah, it's all we have." I smiled and she looks down to her lap wringing her hands. That had become a telltale sign she was nervous.

"That is nice. I doubt my family even wants to see me," She mutters lowly.

I couldn't help the shock expression I wore. Arianna was so inherently good. No part of me would ever understand why anyone would not want to see her.

"Why is that?" She shrugs before crossing her arms.

"I left home the first opportunity I got. I stayed with Taylor for a while until I could afford an apartment with Adam. Of course, we both know how that ended," She trailed off and I reached across taking one of her hand into mine.

"I am sure your family would love to see what an amazing person you have become." I smile and relish her warmth.

"Thanks, Sam," She mutters looking at me with glassy doe eyes.
