Jayden's P.O.V.

It's been not even a week since I've escaped the cops for what seemed to be the fifteenth millionth time. I was at FP's trailer sleeping, he's like a father figure to me, It's a hard life.

Whenever I go home, I sneak in through my bedroom window and hope that I don't get caught by my Aunt Melissa.

I woke up to the smell of burning food. I got up and wiped my eyes, threw on some jeans and a shirt, and walked out to the living room that was next to the kitchen. I saw Jughead making some scrambled eggs and what looked like burnt toast.

"What is that smell?" I ask.

Jughead is an outcast, he calls himself weird and I respect that if you were wondering. His actual name is Forsythe Pendleton Jones III, which is a mouthful if you ask me.

He looked up from the pan of eggs and scrunched his nose.

"Well, I was going to make us some breakfast, but I'll pitch this and have some cereal." He said while throwing the eggs and toast into the garbage can and turning off the stove.

I sat down on the couch and sighed, I lived here. I sneak out at night to come here to have a nice night's sleep.

"So your night was great," Jug said while passing me a bowl of Coco Puffs. He sat next to me and we ate our breakfast.

"Did you go to the mill?" he asked as I looked at him, the boy who I looked up to and knew him as a brother type of friend.

I stayed quiet for a few minutes, Jughead nudged me. He had a serious look on his face. I nodded, "I did," I said, I ate the spoonful of cereal and then set the bowl on the coffee table.

"Well, this is the last time." I nod and glance at my black serpent jacket that was still covered in glass from a couple of days ago.

I joined this gang called the Southside Serpents when I turned 13. They're like my family than my very own.

"Shouldn't we get going to school?" I ask as Jughead rolls his eyes.

"More like hell, but sure. You want to ride with me on my bike or take yours?" He asked as I thought for a moment before answering.

"I'll take mine, you know how long I'll take to get ready." Jughead sighed, took both of our bowls out to the kitchen, and cleaned them off.

After that, he grabbed his messenger bag with his laptop in it and slipped on his Serpent jacket.

"I'll see ya at lunch," he said before leaving the trailer to go to Southside High. I smiled at him before he left.

I got up from the couch and took my jacket to the bathroom to shake off the rest of the glass. I glanced at the clock, and it showed that it was almost time for the first class of the day to start.

I growled as I brushed my hair.

I found the beanie that Jughead got me for Christmas once and threw it on. I grabbed my Serpent jacket. Then headed to school.

When I parked my bike outside of the high school that everyone called hell. I stopped my bike in the lot, taking off my helmet. I made sure that the brake was on before I went in.

I could see my friend, Toni Topaz, leaning against a wall at the school's entrance as she waited for me. When I finally got checked in, she threw her arm around my shoulder and grinned.

"I've missed you!!" She said as she gave me a quick hug, I flinched a little and she gave me a worried look. "What's wrong, you never flinch when I hug you," she said as I gave her a smirk.
