Jayden's P.O.V.I woke up to loud screeching of an alarm and smoke filling the room. "Shit" I mutter under my breath as I heard footsteps running back and forth in the other rooms.
I grabbed two washcloths from the floor and ran out of the guest room, covering my mouth and nose with the edge of my shirt and dousing the washcloths with water.
Holding one of the washcloths, Toni quickly passes the bathroom getting the fire extinguisher. I pass her the washcloth and sprinted towards the front door, opening it and jogged down the steps.
I drop the washcloth on the ground as I put my hands on my knees, catching my breath.
"Jay!!" Someone exclaimed. I turned to see my father and a whole bunch of Serpents behind him.
"Dad!!" I exclaimed, my father looked me over a thousand times to make sure I wasn't injured as the other Serpents went to help.
He embraced me, his warm arms made me miss the bear hugs I would give him when I was little.
Loud yelling could be heard from the trailer as Toni walked out. My father let go of me as we watched the young Serpent boys faces go red.
~Back at my father's trailer, we weren't even a few seconds inside the door and my father had to take off for work. He took his bike, leaving me with the truck.
I went to take a shower, putting on some music to fill the silence. Letting the Luke warm water run down my back I heard a car pulling into the makeshift driveway.
"What now?" I question myself as I got out and dried off, putting some fresh clothes on. I grabbed the brush and put it in my backpack.
A clear plastic water bottle sat on the side of the bag, I slung it on my back. Slipping on some converses and grabbing my beanie.
Before I grab the car keys I looked out the window, seeing the car of the boy I hung out with just a couple of days or weeks ago.
The keys jingle as I set them back on the counter. I walked over to the front door and made sure it was locked before going out.
Jogging down the steps I saw Chuck smiling at me, "There you are!!" He exclaimed as I thought for a moment.
"Hurry up, we're already late." He said, I shook away the thought of declining a ride and taking the truck.
I walked over to his car and put my backpack in, getting in the passenger seat. "So, how's my girl?" he asks as he pops another chip in his mouth.
"Before you start the drive to school and likely kill us on the way there-" I snatched the chip bag from his hand.
Chuck pulled his car out on the street and glanced at me, "Seriously?" Chuck whined.
"It was for your own good." I said, "and I'm good, by the way. My friends didn't almost try to kill Toni and I."
"Please tell me that was only sarcasm." Chuck questions.
I sighed, "No that wasn't." I responded.
"Did she give them a piece of her mind?" he asked.
"Toni, yeah she did. It was funny seeing their faces turn red." I said as Chuck laughed.
Almost the rest of the car ride was full of silence until Chuck broke it.
"Do you want to go to the movies?" He asked, he glanced over at me as the car jerked to a stop.
"Sure, but you're paying." I said.
