In this chapter I used some song lyrics from the song Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran

Nick woke up at 8:30 on Saturday and for the first time since he found out his mom was dead he didn't wake up feeling like he didn't want to get out of bed.

Nick got up and went down the stairs and whistled a random tune.

While nick was still whistling and pouring himself a bowl of cereal his dad stared at him like he had 4 heads.

"What?!" Nick asked as he noticed that his dad was staring at him.

"Oh nothing just wondering why you are so happy on the morning of your mom's funeral." Nick's dad said as he went back to sipping coffee and looking at the news paper.

"Oh I'm just thinking." Nick said like it didn't matter but Nick knew that he had to tell his dad. "Okay fine ever since the dance me and Natalie have been hanging out a lot and I asked her to be my girlfriend and she said yes."

"Good for you Nick." Nick's dad said as he still looked at the new paper then asked "so if you little friend coming to your mom's funeral?"

"What?! How did you know?!" Nick asked as he sat down at the table across from his father.

"Because I'm not stupid." Nick's dad said bluntly.

"I know." Nick said and went back to eating his cereal.

————————9:45 am————————
Nick's dad and Nick picked up Natalie and went to the funeral. After several minutes of driving they arrived at the church where the funeral was being held.

Nick turned to his father and said "wow there's so many people here I thought you said it would mostly be close friends and family?"

"I know but it turns out that a lot of people came. A lot of people loved your mom Nick." Nick's dad said as he was trying not to cry in front of his son.

Nick nodded and then the funeral began. Nick had gotten to pick out a song that he thought best suited his mother to play at the funeral and he picked the song Supermarkets Flowers by Ed Sheeran. When the song started to play no one was crying but when it got to the chorus many people shedded many tears.

Hallelujah you were an angel
I the shape of my mom
When I fell down you'd be there
Holding me up
Spread your wings as you go
When God takes you back
We'll say hallelujah your home

Nick didn't realize he was crying until Natalie squeezed his had and told him it way okay to cry.

After the service was over, people who were at the funeral all piled in Nick's house and Nick did not like it one bit.

There were people everywhere the only place that there wasn't people was his bedroom. He knew he couldn't go hide in his bedroom though because then Natalie would be looking for him and so would his father.

'It's not fair all these people have their own home they live in and I just sat through my mom's funeral can't these people just go home.... except for Natalie.'

Nick thought to himself as Natalie came and sat down with him outside on the swing bench that was placed on the deck where he could look out at the river.

Natalie understood that Nick didn't want to talk so she just sat with him and leaned against his side and held his hand as they sat in the swing chair swaying back and forth.

Everyone left Nick's house around 12:30 and he didn't have anything to do today so he and Natalie sat outside and cuddled in the swing chair until Nick felt his stomach grumble and said "Okay I think my appetite is coming back to me. Want to got get a burger or some sort of comfort food at Pop's?"

"Sure I'd love to." Natalie said as Nick got up out of the swing chair and helped her up then led her into the house and grabbed his wallet.

"Dad me and Natalie are going to Pop's." Nick told his dad who was on the phone with his aunt Marie.

"Okay see you guys later, don't get in any trouble." Nick's dad told them as the couple walked out the door.
