"Betty, I know that we've had a rough past but I really could use your help," Toni pleaded.

"Um Toni, whatever you had with Jughead, I respect that. We were broken up and I'm just happy that's all behind us now," Betty smiled that pretty school girl smile. "Now what is it you need? I'm all ears."

Toni sighed in relief, "I have a month to get Cheryl to go to the Spring Fling with me and I know you guys aren't necessarily friends, but you have known her longer than I have. Any advice?"

Betty smiled at the thought of Toni coming to her for help, it showed that they could be friends even after all the confusion with Jughead and the Serpents.

"Cheryl, although a cobra herself, does miraculously have a soft side. Other people's kindness throws her off, so if you are going to approach her, you're going to have to be able to take her venom and maybe even deal some of your own."

Toni thought long and hard about what she needed to do. So much that she didn't even realize she was about to run into the queen herself as they filed through the cafeteria at the start of lunch.

"Do you slithering miscreants ever watch where you're going?" Cheryl spoke crossing her hands over her chest and staring the short girl down.

"It was an accident, your royal highness. My name is Toni, by the way, Toni Topaz."

"And my name is I don't care. Now move, poubelle," Cheryl said before twisting away.

Toni scoffed before joining her friends at their table. "I don't know what she just said, but I don't think it was a term of endearment," Toni sighed sitting down.

"Looks like you're sucking ass, Topaz. Might as well call it quits now," Sweet Pea said stuffing his mouth with mashed potatoes.

"Don't listen to him. Things like this take time," Fangs said.

"I couldn't agree more! I'm Kevin by the way," Kevin walked up to the table of serpents, with that smile and eyes on Fangs. "You should try out for the Vixens. Cheryl will be forced to keep her eyes on you and you can, I don't know, peak her interest."

"Topaz? In a Riverdale cheerleading outfit?" Sweet pea chuckled. "Now that, I would love to see."

"I'll think about it guys," Toni said. "I mean just saying hi to her isn't even working out. Why would this be any different?"

"Because this time, you'll be talking with your body," Kevin said. Toni looked over at Cheryl across the cafeteria one more time and sighed, contemplating what she should do.

"Alright you classless wastes of time, you each have one chance to show me any fire you possibly may have. Of course most of you don't even have a fraction of the talent my Vixens have, but I'm willing to entertain you cows for a short period of time," Cheryl announced to the girls trying out. "First up, Toni Topaz!"

Toni slowly arose from the bleachers looking towards Betty and Veronica who gave her a thumbs up. She nodded and let out a deep breath. Once the music started, she toned out everyone in the room, except for her one focus, Cheryl.

She first slides across the floor, turning her body towards the left, before spinning, letting her hair flip and fly across her face. She then stands and while spreading her legs, slowly moves her hands up her body. Everyone's eyes were on her, including Cheryl's. She walks backwards, her best 'bad bitch' face on, with her hands to her sides, making beckoning motions directly at the redhead. She dips her head and rolls her body forward, then to the right and then the left. She joins her hands together above her head, swaying her hips in the most dramatic fashion, turns to the left and pops her ass out, before finishing her dance, hands by her side and chest pumping.

The entire squad erupts in applause, as well as Cheryl, who has a slightly amused smirk on her face. They both maintain eye contact as Toni joins the others. "Alright, I doubt you amateurs could top that," Cheryl announces toward everyone. "So, tryouts are over, get out of my gym."

Toni was gathering her things when an abrupt clearing of the throat was heard over her shoulder. She turned and standing in all her glory was the Cheryl Blossom. Toni smirked because although she tried to hide it, she could see the curiousity in Cheryl's eyes.

"Who knew a Serpent could slither in more ways than one. If you want to be initiated into the Vixens, which you'd be an idiot not to, you will attend my slumber party at Thistle House this Friday evening," Cheryl said. "Do not dare show up to my homestead looking like a lumberjack crackhead or I will slam the door in your face. Half past seven, don't be late."

With that, the red princess strutted out of the gym. Josie, Betty, and Veronica approached her now. "Congratulations! I knew you could do it," Betty said engulfing Toni in a hug.

"Thanks guys, but what's with this sleepover? Does she do this with every new River Vixen?" Toni asked.

"Nope," Josie said. "But don't worry, she invited us three as well. You won't be alone." The girls gave her a soft smile before leaving to change.

Toni didn't know what to think of this new information. Should she be relieved or disappointed that the other girls were invited as well? Was her audition really good enough to not even watch the others? Or was it exceptional interest? But with unanswered questions still lingering in her mind, she decided to join the girls in the locker room.
