MING'S POV

It's around 9pm now and I'm sitting with Kit and Pha at one of the tables outside the practice area. It's breaktime and I expect this will be our last break before they let us leave. Looking around I try to spot Forth, but he's nowhere in sight. Thinking back, I realize I haven't seen him around since the beginning of our dinner break.

Speaking up, I ask the guy sitting across from me, "P'Pha, where's Forth?"

"He left." He tells me shortly not moving his eyes from his phone.

Staring at him, I'm waiting for him to continue, but that's all I get. So, I try again. "Where did he go?"

"Beam's."

Wow. He's Mr. Talkative tonight. How will I ever make him shut up? "Will he be back?"

"Not sure."

Sighing in exasperation I turn to Kit and see his trying to hold back his laughter at my expense, "Care to elaborate?"

"Beam's not feeling well and Forth went to take him dinner. I'm not sure he'll be back tonight. It depends on how Beam is doing."

Well that was definitely more informative. "Ah, ok."

"Is Yo's mom still in town?" Kit inquires, and from the corner of my eye I see Pha's head jerk up as he looks over at the mention of Yo's name.

"Yep. She'll be here till tomorrow afternoon. She's really great and it's fun having her around, but it'll be nice when she goes home. We just escaped parental supervision and it sucks to have it again so soon. I mean we just escaped from under our parents' thumbs less than two weeks ago and she's already visiting." I complain.

"Did she have a reason for coming." Pha asks butting in, which makes me realize I'm talking too much.

"No. No reason. She just said she missed Yo." I tell him, clamming up.

"That's nice. By the way, what's his parent's..."

"Time to get started again, everyone. We're almost done for tonight. Just a few last things to go over and we'll call it quits." Ging yells while clapping to get our attention from the practice room door.

Thank you Ging! "Sorry, Ps. Got to get back inside. Talk to you later." I tell them rising from my seat. I take a quick glance at Kit and see him watching Pha thoughtfully. I know Pha is his best friend, but he made a promise to Yo about keeping quiet. All I can do right now is hope he sticks to his word and doesn't say anything.

-------------------

When the seniors called it a night I looked for Forth again, but Kit told me he never made to back practice. They are worried about their friend, but I'm worried about Forth. He never skips out on his responsibilities without a good reason, so I'm a little concerned something might have happened to him.

"He's fine. Beam answered some texts a little while ago and said Forth was with him." Kit tells me as we're walking out to the parking lot.

"How did you know I was thinking about Forth?"

"Duh. It's obvious." He tells me as he rolls his eyes. "So, quit worrying. I'm sure he'll be back here at practice tomorrow."

Nodding my head, I follow Kit to his car. When he pauses to dig for his keys, I ask, "So will you be coming to practice tomorrow too, P'?"

Still digging in his backpack, he tosses out offhandedly, "Maybe. I have homework I need to get finished before classes on Monday, so it depends on how much I get done tomorrow morning."
