MING'S POV
Lying in the middle of the field, whole but with every body part in at least a little pain, I reflect upon my life and how I got where I am right now. While I am contemplating my existence, unanswerable questions float through my mind such as...
How in the world did I become best friends with such an evil little hellion?
How could such a vengeful person wear such a sweet and innocent face?
Heaving a long-suffering sigh, I push myself into a sitting position and take account of my injuries. I knew he was going to be angry when he found out what I did, but I didn't realize he'd be this angry. The bastard didn't even heal me before he abandoned me here, so he must still be harboring some ill will towards me. Oh well, I can use this to my advantage. I'll just limp around looking pitiful until he gives in and forgives me completely.
Definitely will keep my distance from him for the rest of the night though. I've learned my lesson today and I don't need another one. I guarantee I won't forget this one anytime this millennium either. What lesson? When making decisions that could adversely affect Yo's life, discuss it with him first.
As I'm trying to climb to my feet, I hear the sounds of brush snapping and cracking from someone's rushed progress through the trees. Right after, I hear a panicked voice frantically calling my name.
"Ming! Ming! Where are you? Answer me, damn it?!"
"P'Kit, I'm here." I call out as I see him appear about 10 yards from me. Homing in on my voice, he looks my way and gasps when he sees me. Do I look that bad? My face hurts around my eye and jaw, but I obviously haven't had a chance to look at it yet.
Watching Kit as he runs to me, I keep expecting him to slow down but he never does. When he gets close, he ends up launching himself at me and tackling me back down to the ground. As if Yo's 'training session' before wasn't enough, now my own boyfriend is trying to kill me. Struggling to breathe, with Kit laying on my injured ribs, I can only grunt in pain at his frantic questions.
"Are you ok? What happened to your face? Did you and Yo fight? Why did you and Yo fight?"
"P'Kit... I... I can't... breathe." I finally mange to get out. He immediately sits up, straddling my waist, but I remain flat on the ground trying to catch my breath.
Quickly assessing me, he probes around my eye. When I hiss in pain, he grunts and tells me to quit acting like a baby as he keeps poking. When he's satisfied with what he finds he helps me sit up which causes my ribs to ache. I wrap my arm protectively around my torso, but that only last a few seconds before he notices it and pries it away, feeling the need to poke around there too.
After a couple more minutes, poking and prodding at my various injuries, he faces me again and asks, "Are you going to tell me why you were fighting with Yo?"
"It's what I was trying to do before Yo got mad at me, so yeah. I'll try it again once we get back to the house. Hopefully this time Yo will keep his temper in check."
Climbing off my lap, he offers his hands to help me stand. Taking them, I'm able to climb to my feet and stay there, even if I'm a little wobbly at first. Wrapping his arm around my waist, he helps me move towards the tree line, so we can head back to the house.
Jay and Zee are standing at the edge of the path waiting for us. As soon as we're in talking distance I ask, "Yo still mad."
"Oh yeah." Jay answers. Zee continues, "Steaming. Literally. Like we couldn't even touch him when we first saw him, or we'd have been scalded."
