PHANA'S POV

"Hang on tight to me. Ok?"

"Are you sure about this?" I ask skeptically.

"Of course, I am." He assures me. "Are you doubting me?"

"No." I state firmly cutting off his impending angst storm. "I've just never known someone who could do this."

"Oh... well, it's because I'm strong. I'm the second most powerful demon there is after all." He tells me straight faced and without an ounce of humility.

Rolling my eyes, I refrain from shaking my head and just hug him tightly as I let him know, "I'm ready."

One second we're in his bedroom in the mansion and the next we're not. Looking around, I realize it's another bedroom, but it's definitely not the mansion. This room is massive and grand on a scale that's almost unfathomable. There's beautiful dark wood furniture, what looks like silk pillows and sheets, and gold accents everywhere. This room is a room that belongs in a palace.

Holding out his hand to me, he explains, "Let's go. My mom's garden isn't very far from here."

Unlocking his bedroom door, he leads me out into the hall. Turning to the right, he guides me through twists and turns until I feel completely lost. However, after walking for another minute or two we reach a set of French doors which look out into a greenspace full of flowers.

Turning to me, he straightens my collar and gives me a peck on the cheek, then asks, "Ready?"

Trying to swallow although my mouth is as dry as the desert, I only nod my head in reply. After giving me a once over, instead of turning and leading us out the doors, he grips my face between his hands and pulls me down for a real kiss.

"She'll love you P'Pha. Don't worry."

Finally finding my voice, I ask, "How do you know?"

"Because I love you. So, she will too."

Damn him. He knows exactly what to say to me to get the reaction he wants. This time his confidence makes me smile though. Tweaking his nose, I stand up straight and settle my shoulders, feeling a bit more relaxed now. He smiles at me in return, then moves to the doors and pushes them open before grabbing my hand and striding inside.

Walking down the path, we round a corner and find a large flower draped pergola. A small table and four chairs are situated underneath it. A woman is sitting in one of the chairs with a book in one hand and a fork in the other. When she glances up at our approach, it's immediately obvious this woman is Yo's mother. There's no one else it could be. She is stunningly beautiful and looks too much like her son to be anyone else.

Dropping her book and utensil, she quickly rises from her seat, and open her arms as she calls out, "Baby! When did you get home? Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"

Leaving my side, he rushes to her and is enveloped in a hug. A small pang of jealousy runs through me at the sight. It's been a very long time since I had a mother to hug.

"Mommy, I wanted to surprise you." Pulling away from her he motions for me to come closer. "I have someone to introduce to you. This is my boyfriend, Phana."

Glancing from her son to me and back, I see a sly smile cross her lips. If I needed any further proof they were related there it is, because that's Yo's smile when he's trying to be playful and sneaky.

Grabbing Yo, she squeezes him tightly as she rocks them both back and forth while loudly exclaiming, "Oh My Gosh! This is the first time you've ever brought someone home to meet me! My little poopsie smoopsie finally becoming a man!"
