PHANA'S POV
It's been almost a month since I found out Yo was Prince and my father was planning a rebellion. And in spite of all the stress and anxiety that caused at the time, nothing exciting has happened since.
After we had our big group meeting at Yo's house we played a waiting game until day six of the deadline. On the evening of that day, I called my father, reluctantly telling him I had found Yo and was beginning to befriend him.
Not unexpectedly, he wanted proof. I told him unless he wanted pictures of Yo and the pack from a distance then he was going to have to give me a few more days to get closer to them. He agreed almost eagerly, seeming to believe that I was falling in line with his plans to get out of the arranged marriage he still had hanging over my head. A few days later I texted over a couple selfies showing Yo and I studying at the library together with the pack in the background.
He must have become overly excited by the progress I was seemingly making, because his next move was to immediately demand I bring Yo to the house to meet with him. Thankfully, I was able to convince him there was no way that was happening anytime soon. I explained how difficult it was to even get within two feet of Yo without his Hellhounds freaking out and that there was no way he could go anywhere alone with me. For once, my father listened.
FLASHBACK
"Fine, but I expect you to continue making progress with the boy. Begin discussing politics with him. I've sent over a packet by courier which you will need to review, so you can do what I've requested intelligently."
Wow, I think my own father just called me stupid. Rolling my eyes, I agree, "Yes, Father. I understand."
"I will expect another phone call by weeks end to inform me of how the conversations with him are going."
Again, simple agreement is all he's looking for, "Yes, Father."
There's silence for a couple seconds and I'm starting to believe the conversation is over when he speaks again, "Son, I'm proud of the progress you have made in this endeavor. It looks like you are finally growing out of your childish ways and realizing how glorious it is to be a true member of the Pride Faction. I'm glad to finally see you come to your senses."
If he knew what I was really doing, he'd kill me himself. Saying the first think that comes to my mind, I spit out, "I'm making an effort."
"You are, and your grandfather and I both recognize it. Your grandfather has even agreed to put the wedding negotiations with the Envy and Greed Factions on hold because of your efforts."
Yo who is sitting beside me listening in on the phone call we're making from his bedroom, suddenly gives me a weird look and mouths silently, "wedding negotiations?"
Shit. I forgot to tell him about that. I mean it was never going to happen, so I kind of pushed it out of my thoughts. We had bigger matters to contemplate at the time anyway. Guess I'll have some explaining to do after this call.
Finally, after another few minutes of senseless conversation from my old man and some rushed platitudes from me, due to Yo's increasingly irritated look, our conversation comes to an end. Luckily, my father didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary as he once again states how proud of my accomplishments he is, then tells me good bye and hangs up.
As soon as I put the phone down, Yo jumps on me slamming me down and pinning me on his bed. As he hovers over me, he asks in a deadly voice, "Marriage negotiations? With Envy and Greed?"
"Now, babe, don't get upset. That's never going to happen." I say soothingly as I reach my hand up to stroke his cheek. Snatching my hand away, he pins it down to the bed as he stares down at me in annoyance.
