WAYO'S POV

"The party you are trying to reach is currently unavailable..."

Damn automated message again. Disconnecting the call, I toss the phone on the couch beside me and heave a frustrated sigh. It's been two days of unanswered phone calls and unread line messages.

"No answer again?" Ming asks frowning from his seat across from me on the other couch.

Shaking my head, I say aloud, "I just don't understand. I've been trying to call and text since Friday night, but nothing. Complete silence from his end."

"Maybe he's busy." He tells me, trying to ease my mind, but it's not working.

"No. He's not." Glancing over at him, I hesitantly admit, "I got really worried so... I uhm... I tried listening in to his thoughts... just a little bit." I throw in at the end when he gives me a chiding look.

"Yo, that's invasion of privacy and..."

Before he gets too worked up, I cut him off. "I know. OK? But I've been so stressed out. We talk and see each other every day and then he just suddenly disappears. What was I supposed to do?"

Heaving a sigh, he lets me slide without more lecturing as he asks, "Did you at least learn anything useful from doing it?"

"No." I tell him as I run my hands through my hair in frustration. "It didn't help at all. It only made me more worried about him. His thoughts have been nothing but a dark jumbled mass of confusing images all spinning together for the last two days." Pausing, I take a deep breath to focus and try to convince my friend, "Ming, something is terribly wrong. I know it, but I don't know what to do about it."

Glancing at my best friend I can see he's thinking this out. Neither of us know where Pha lives, so it's not like we can just drop by his place. Besides he might not even be at home, since he said he got called to a meeting with his family on Friday. I could teleport to him, but because I don't know where he is, there are just too many things that can go wrong with that option. Unless it's a dire emergency, I don't even want to contemplate it.

"Let's call Kit." Ming blurts out suddenly.

Looking at him in confusion, I ask, "Kit? Why?"

"Come on Yo, think. He's one of Pha's best friends, so if something is wrong he'll want to know. Plus, he knows where Pha lives so he can see if he's home and check on him if he is."

Jumping from the couch I wrap my arms around my friend tackling him onto his couch in a huge hug. "I think that's the smartest thing you've ever said, buddy! I'll call Kit now."

Grabbing my phone, I sit beside Ming and click on Kit's cute kitty pic in my contacts. As the phone starts to ring, Ming angrily asks, "Where did you get that picture of My Kitty?!"

KIT'S POV

It's 8pm on Sunday night and instead of working on homework, Beam and I are currently standing outside Pha's dorm room banging on the door.

"Maybe he's not here." I tell Beam.

"Nope. He's in there and Yo's right, something is wrong." He tells me with an anxious look.

"What do you mean?"

"The emotions pouring out of his room are a mess. Anger, resentment, terror, hope, frustration, love, hate. They're all mixed together in a jumbled mess. We need to find a way in and figure out what's going on. Since the door is locked, maybe we could go in through the balcony."
