Peter sat in front of you, taking a gulp of saliva. You could see from his face that you should have softened the blow.

"Uh-that's fine! I have people try to kill me everyday! No biggie! I'm more worried about the summer break coming up, y'know?" He rushed out, stumbling over his words at points. He had stood up when the news had been delivered, and now he leant on your wardrobe, before you could tell him it still wasn't correctly placed against the wall. It started toppling over, but Peter caught it before it fell properly.

"Peter..." You started, but he shook his head.

"No! No, this is fine, Y/n! We can get through this, I'm sure!" He said, biting his nails and pacing around your room. You grabbed one of his hands away from his face, making him look into you e/c eyes. You stared back into his brown doe eyes, causing him to relax.

"This is dangerous. No one survives the Golden Circle. But with my help, you can. Just let me help you, Peter. Let me in" You said, still holding his hand. You dropped it, before looking back at him. He nods his head

"Where do we start?" He mutters, almost inaudibly, before looking back to you.

"We don't"

The next day you told Ned, who thought it was so cool, even though Peter almost died. Then there was the gradual buzz of the summer formal, where everyone was expected to go-date or not. Obviously, Peter was still torn up about Liz, and you had no interest in any of the boys at that school, so you all decided to go as a group.

"Are you guys actually going to that Formal? That's so lame" A voice said, which you had grown to know as the oddball Michelle, who was still touchy about being called MJ.

"Aren't you going?" Ned asked the girl.

"Well yeah" She replied, and Peter, who previously had his head resting on his fist, sat up in confusion.

"Doesn't that make you lame?" He asked, and you nodded.

"But I accept my lameness" Michelle said, before standing up to dump her food into the trash can. You shrugged before going back to talking about the formal with the boys. Peters gaze kept on leaving you, and you followed his eyes to a step ladder, where someone had previously used it to hang up something. The Summer Formal posters weren't there, though, they were instead facing you as you entered the cafeteria. There was a buzz, as the decorations committee had a new leader to it.

"Dude, Liz isn't going to reappear if you stare there for long enough" Ned reminded him, snapping him out of his trance, looking at Ned with desperate eyes.

"I can try." He said, determinedly.

"Ned's right, Pete. It's been nearly a whole term since she went. We're not telling you to get over it, but the first step is to not think about her as much as you do" You said, trying to comfort him but putting an arm on his shoulder. He shrugged it off before walking away to his locker, mumbling an apology. Classic Peter, even when pissed off, was incredibly polite. Ned gave you a look, before you got up to dump your leftovers in the trash.

"You tried-I gave up two weeks ago, to be honest." He said, and you nodded.

"He doesn't want to get over her" You said, looking to where your best friend once sat. Ned nodded

"He's scared of falling for someone else"

It had been almost a week since Peter's attack, and you were growing on edge. Everywhere you went with Peter, you kept a watchful eye, hoping they didn't know his alter-ego already.
