The sun shone when you woke up, your eyebrows furrowing slightly. The alarm started blaring, and you quickly came to. Peter groaned, nuzzling into your shoulder.
"Pete, we need to get up" You whispered. He started humming 'Chasing Cars' by Snow Patrol. You let out a childish laugh before trying to untangle your limbs from Peter's. You finally managed to get your legs free from Peters, and started to sit up.
"Five more minutes, Y/n!" He grumbled, tugging your waist and pulling you out of the small bed. You landed with a sigh, deciding that five more minutes couldn't harm anyone or anything. You smiled, looking at the boy next to you.
"Hey, Spiderman" You said, glancing down at his red suit. You were still wearing your golden outfit, the boots you had been wearing were thrown up hanging down from your bunk. You didn't know what happened after getting into yours and Peters room, but you were both so tired you probably crashed as soon as you walked in.
"Hey" Peter said with a morning gravelly voice
"Right, I'm getting up" You sighed, pushing his arm off of you and walking to the bathroom to have a shower. You could hear Peter call your name in annoyance.
You had finally gotten out of the shower, remembering every item of clothing, luckily. Peter was waiting on his bed, his face still looking slightly ashy.
"You look like the child of a human and a chimney" You laughed, as he buries his head into his pillow cutely, trying to fall back asleep, no doubt.
"I know" He mumbled. You walked over to where he was laying, pulling him out of bed.
"C'mon, Pete. As adorable as you look, you have to get up!" You said, grabbing his arm and pulling him up. He stumbled up, and you laughed at his messy hair.
"So, you think I'm adorable?" He asked with his Spiderman charm
"Get ready for school, Parker" You blushed, pushing him to the bathroom. He stumbled into the bathroom, paying to look back at you. You smiled, before turning to pack your bag. Luckily you didn't have any books or homework that you had lying around, so you jut slipped into your shoes and walked into the kitchen.
"Morning, May!" You cheerfully said, before grabbing a slice of toast she had prepared.
"Morning, Y/n! Peter ready yet?" She asked, letting her hair fall down her shoulders after finishing cooking
"No, he's about to get out the shower I think." You said, quickly wolfing down the toast. Aunt May nodded before she banged on the toilet door.
"What the hell?" Peter yelled, in a high pitched tone. You smiled happily, looking down at your fingers.
"Toast is ready-and you gotta go to school!" May said, before running back to you "got your bag?" She asked you, and you nodded happily.
"First of all-" Peter started, walking out of the shower. He only had a towel wrapped around his waist, and you avoided his gaze.
"You're naked, Peter, put on some clothes. Poor Y/n's been scarred for life!" May teased, before Peter made a dash for his room. You smirked, laughing as May dashed around the house too, trying to get ready for her job. Peter ran out of the bedroom, slightly red from the previous encounter. You just smiled at him and handed him a slice of toast.
"Thanks" He said, grabbing the toast.
"Get your bag, we need to go!" You ordered, grabbing your bag from your room, and walking to the front door. Peter rolled his eyes, making a mental note to make sure he was never late around you.
"Can I eat my toast first?" He asked, pulling on shoes with one hand, the other hand obviously holding his precious toast. You shook your head at him, quickly yelling a goodbye to Aunt May.
"On the subway-c'mon!" You urged as Peter rolled his eyes, grabbing his bag and double checking that he had all his homework in his bag. You made sure to close the door, saying a final goodbye to May, who didn't hear the first one. You practically sprinted to the elevator, not waiting for Peter to get in. You pressed the button, and Peter sped up, running to make sure the door didn't close on him. Luckily, he got in with a sliver of time left. After catching both of your breaths, Peter let out a chuckle. You joined him, laughing at how stressed and panicked you were. With anyone else you'd've worried that you'd come off like a weirdo, but not with Peter. Peter was just as weird as you, which was a comforting thought. By the time the doors opened for you to get out at the lobby, you were both a lot calmer.
So what if you were a little late to school?
You eventually (after a subway trip) got to school, surprisingly on time. Ned and MJ were both at Ned's locker, where Peter's locker was too. It was crazy to Peter how much his friendship group had grown from the start of the year-it started out with just him and Ned, then you, then MJ reluctantly got dragged in, as she claimed. After everything dramatic that had happened in Peters short life, he knew he'd always have his small friendship group to fall back on.
Peter had told Ned about your powers, but the pair of you hadn't spoken to MJ yet. To be honest, she loved weird things, so she'd probably try and probe you the first chance she got. You decided lunch would be the best time to do so, as you could talk and still not be heard among the sea of chattering voices. The four of you were talking about pretty much everything, before Ned spoke up
"Did you talk to Iron Man?" He said. To be honest, you had forgotten, the secret had been pushed to the back of your mind since the two explosions happened. You had figured that they had been striking places of some importance-either to you or to Peter. As you had discovered, the first blast was at your old apartment, and the second was the apartment Peter lived in until the age of six.
His parent's apartment, which was now just a pile of rubber.
So, calling Tony Stark to have a conversation about a secret he may or may not know hardly seemed like the main priority.
"No, why?" You said, trying to think of an excuse. You didn't want to worry Ned or MJ about the explosions, and although you were an ex-assassin, you were a terrible liar. Assassins needed to assassinate, spies needed to lie.
"Y/n (Middle Name if you have one) Kra-!" MJ stopped herself from saying your last name, which brought alarm bells to your brain. "What did you promise?" She scolded
"To talk to Iron Twat" You mumbled, and Peter laughed. You looked at him, confused with his outburst of laughter.
"Your Britishness came out, Y/n!" He said, and you groaned. You loved your accent, but being surrounded by Americans did make you feel self-conscious of sounding different.
"Shut up, Parker" You said, giving him a light shove, which he returned. Ned and MJ were laughing at you and Peter's childish antics, before the bell rang and the four of you had to separate.
Why didn't MJ say your last name? It was the question that drifted you off from your studies, and quite frankly scared you. Was it because of the tarnished connotations the surname now held, or was it something more sinister? You drew on the back of the maths worksheet you'd been given, after completing it quickly. It seemed like everything taught to you in the U.S had already been taught in the U.K, and it was getting boring. You would never complain, though; it gave you time to daydream, and work on a superhero name.
It seemed so weird and alien to be called a hero. Your whole life, you had been on the opposing side-a forced villain. You switched it up, and now you were left with the task of leaving 'Shadow' behind and becoming a completely new persona.
