Chapter 7: Cloud nine

"Jade please, Just one."

"No."

"Cooooome onnnnn~" Toni said pushing the rolled paper in my face "Just hit oooooone bluuuuunt~"

I sat in the circle beside Toni who was pressuring me to smoke some weed. We specifically agreed that I wasn't going to do any drugs so I'd be able to make sure Toni doesn't get into trouble (specifically cheating on Violet). Besides, I never gotten high before and the last place I'd wanna lose my self control would be with a bunch of strangers.

"Toni stop." I said pushing her arm away, "I told you I'm not getting high."

"I know I said that babe, but thiiiiings can change~" she gave me a lopsided smile, "Loosen uuuup~ one puff won't take you to cloud nine that faaaaaaast~".

I looked at the group around me. Everyone was taking puffs and lighting more blunts, their eyes redder then my shoes. Some people were swaying to the music, others laying down, there was even this one girl who started to eat grass.

"Cooooome onnnnnn~" the girl beside me sang her voice at an extremely high pitch, "Don't telllll meeeee youuuu dont wanaaaa have fuuuuun~ hit a bluuuuuuuuunt will yaaaaa~!"

The others let out lazy 'yeah' and I looked at the blunt that was in Toni's hand.

I mean they had a point, this was really the only chance I had to loosen up. The way things were going, I was probably going to be stressed, so letting go for now would be for the best.

I hesitated before accepting the blunt from Toni.

"That's my sweeeeetcheeeeks~"

One blunt wouldn't hurt.

And like they say, first time is never the worst time.

I raised the blunt to my mouth and picked up the lighter to light the blunt.

I never smoked anything in my life, not even cigarettes. And here I was about to smoke illegal marijuana.

Just another illegal thing to add my list.

The flame caught the end of the blunt and I inhaled the smoke.

At first I didn't feel anything, I opened my mouth and released the smoke.

"Helllll yeahhhh" someone said.

Within seconds of inhaling the weed I sharply bent over as if I'd been punched in the stomach, breaking out into a violent coughing fit.

Toni pat my back, "Cough it outttttt~"

An itchy sensation started in the back of my throat and I felt my mouth start to dry up. My cough didn't help and soon my head started to hurt from jerking my body forward with each cough.

"Girlllll, you need to drink some waterrrrrrr" Toni said still patting my back.

I rose from my spot on the ground with my head in my hands. The ground beneath me started to sway as I took a step in the direction of the house.

"Here let me go with you." A random deep voice sounded beside me and a hand was placed on my lower back for support.

I didn't think anything of it, I was just grateful for the support. I took another step and tripped over what seemed to be...nothing.
