I took out my earbuds as the bus slowly came to a stop in front of one of the bus stops. It was still early morning and there wasn't much people on the bus, let alone the streets.
Albany avenue wasn't the friendliest looking town, and the residents of the area were quite scruffy looking.
I stood up from my seat and moved towards the back of the bus where the doors were opened.
As soon as I stepped out and onto the street, the smell of marijuana was strong in the air. Despite the fact weed was illegal until June 3rd didn't stop the druggies from getting high, when they liked.
I crossed the bare street and headed down an alleyway.
Toni had said she needed to pick up a couple of things in an alleyway across from the bus stop, so having me wait there until she was done seemed like a good idea.
"Hey munchkin." I heard a familiar voice say from the alleyway. A dark figure moved and right before me stood Toni.
Her features had changed a lot from the last time I'd seen her. Her hair that was once a platinum blonde was now a vibrant purple, she wore a pair of black circular glasses and two snake bite piercings were under her nude lips.
"Ooh, look at you! Got a little hip thing going on there." She walked past me and the school bag over her shoulder hit me in the arm. "Hurry up, I have some more things to do."
"What?" I quickly followed her.
"There's a pitter tonight at my place."
A pitter?
"What's that?"
Toni snorted, "You really don't know what a pitter is? How innocent are you!?"
"Not that innocent, considering the fact I"-
"Holy shit Jade, I was only joking." She laughed, "A pitter is a fire."
"Ohhhh."
"Well it's more then a fire. It's an illegal fire in the forest where people meet up and get wasted and stoned."
"Oh?" I frowned, "And it's at your place?"
"Yeah. It's not even that bad. You don't have to do anything, you can just watch. Besides, you barely have any friends."
I felt slightly offended but it was the truth, Toni was my only friend.
"Well, I don't wanna make friends with drug addicts."
"Sucks to be you cause you're best friends with one of them!" She laughed giving my butt a sharp slap.
I yelped and jumped away from her.

"We're almost there." Toni said moving a branch out of her face.
We had been walking in the woods for what seemed to be like hours, but in reality had only been a couple of minutes.
I ducked under the tree branch that Toni let hold back and hit me in the face with and was greeted by a surprise.
A relatively small yellow vinyl house with white rimmed windows was in the middle of an open space. The siding had been worn out and the little white fence thing on the front's paint was peeling.
"So, what do you think?" Toni said with a sing song voice.
"I-I mean it's better then an apartment?"apartment
Toni shrugged and opened the door, which to my surprise opened with ease. She motioned for me to go ahead of her and I did, only to receive another slap on the butt.
"Thicc." She mumbled.
I brushed off her remark and examined the inside. It was waaaaaaay better then what the outside could ever had been. Unlike the olden vibes the outside gave off the inside was entirely different.
It had a modern day-cozy vibe to it.
The colours of the living room were neutral, except for the little splashes of rainbow here and there. Especially the giant pride flag that hung on the wall.
"Shoes. Off." Toni instructed as she walked past me with her shoes already off, "Violet will be pissed if she sees a hint of dirt on the floor."
"Who's-"
"Violet?"
I swear Toni just loved interrupting me.
"Haven't I told you about Violet? My girlfriend, A.K.A my roommate."
"No..." I said slipping one shoe off.
"Well, yeah. She's my girlfriend. One tip of advice I give to you is that you never , I repeat, never come into our room without knocking." Toni said before turning around and walking down a hallway, "Follow me."
I picked up my bag and followed.
"This is your room." Toni said bluntly, "Don't go crazy with it because I can't guarantee a long stay for you if you don't plan on getting a job." She pushed me inside and close the door.
I heard her soft footprints walk down the hall before she called back to me,
"Pitter starts at 10!"
