Max's POV

I sat in the hallway outside my sister's room. My face was stained with tears from crying. My parents won't even look at me.

I'm supposed to protect her. I'm the one that is supposed to get hurt not her. It should've been me. It's my job as a big brother and Alpha to protect her.

I jumped feeling a hand being placed on my back. I looked over seeing Charles's daughter, Avery.

She smiled at me. "Max it wasn't you're fault. Father and Alpha Cody have been trying to gather all the traps up for weeks. Humans keep coming from town and putting them out here. The rouges are the ones causing it all; killing their livestock." She said softly and rubbed my back

I whined and laid my head in her lap sniffling. She sighed and brushed my cheek softly trying to calm me down. I wasn't sure if she was my mate yet. My mind is so fuzzy right now I don't know anything.

I quickly sat up hearing the door open. Collins looked at us and smiled weakly. "Max....Shelby will be ok. I stitched everything up and she is in a cast. She will heal and go through physical therapy." He said softly

I whined and looked down. "She May heal but my parents won't ever forgive me. Thank you for all that you do Collins." I said and got up and walked out of the hospital.

Derrick, Collins mate, stopped me just outside the hospital. "Wow where are you going? Your sister is in there! She needs you!" He said looking at me.

I growled. "My parents won't let me. They won't even look at me! Just leave me be Derrick." I growled and shoved past him shifting into my wolf and ran into the trees towards Taylor's pack.

I needed to get away from here. I wasn't wanted anymore. No one wanted me.

I looked up seeing Taylor's house. I shifted back to my wolf and went to knock on the door when I heard a female voice screaming out Taylor's name. I whined and pulled back.

He found his mate. Now he won't even bother talking to me. I turned my back to the house and shifted heading towards town.

I went to an alleyway and shifted back and sighed heavily. It's crossed through my mind enough to become a rouge leave my birthright to become my sister's. I shook my head and groaned.

Walking down the sidewalk towards an arcade my father used to take me to all the time with Charles and Avery.

I walked inside and looked around at all the children and some teens playing games. I sighed and walked around looking at all the games they added.

"I thought I'd find you here." I heard Avery say. Groaning I turned around and looked at her.

She was leaning up against a Pac Man machine smirking at me.

"What do you want Avery?" I asked.  She whined at me. "I want you to come back home where you are safe. You are supposed to be Alpha. You can't just abandon us. You can't abandon me." She said quietly.

I looked at her confused. Why did she say I couldn't abandon her?

Avery smiled at me. "Come on let's go somewhere else. Where there are less people." She said taking my hand.

There was an odd feeling when our hands touched. I shrugged the feeling off and let her pull me out of the arcade.

I watched her hips as she walked down the sidewalk. I growled quietly to myself and looked up seeing her car.

"Come on Max. I'm taking you somewhere...special." Avery said and let go of my hand and got into the drivers seat.

I whined at lost of contact and got in the passenger seat. I sighed watching as we drove out of town heading back towards the pack territory.
