Alpha Max

Chapter 18

**A Few weeks Later**

Mason's POV 

It has been a few week since I had found Shelby in the woods after that...that male raped her. I growled glancing around the meeting table with Max, Cody, Lucas, and a few of the other warriors. 

"We have narrowed it down to one acre of land that could possibly hold the cabin. If it wasn't for your temper Max, we would still have Mike here to tell us exactly where the cabin is." Cody growled looking at his son. 

Max growled at his father. "He deserved to have his tongue ripped out." he snapped. I growled slamming my hand down onto the table looking between the males. I know this isn't my place to be stepping in. What am I?  A new pack member who's mate is the Alpha's little sister. That's it. I'm not a warrior yet, or the Beta, not even close to a Delta status. 

Max and Cody looked at me. "Yelling at each other what solve our problem! Gather another party and we will sweep through that acre of land. It makes sense that the cabin is in that acre. Its obviously a rouge that is living there, unless he figured out that Mike wasn't bringing him anymore females to pleasure himself with and ran." I said and looked at Max. 

Max growled and looked at his father. "What if there were others from other packs that brought him females? The cabin is in an ideal location that it is on the edges of the boarder between us, Taylor's pack, Your Great Uncle Jet's pack, and the Smith's pack." Lucas said looking at the map then up at us. 

I sighed and looked at Max for an answer now. Max rubbed his temples looking down at the table. I bit my lip knowing he was trying to keep control of his darker side, that I just now learned about. 

"Max?" Cody asked looking at his son. Max looked up and at us. "Gather a party, I will call the other packs and warn them about the possibility that we just came up with." he said and stood disappearing down the hall towards his office. 

I sighed and stood and looked at Cody. "I'm sorry I spoke out of turn." I said lowering my head. Cody sighed and set his hands on my shoulders. "Look at me Mason." He said his voice soft. 

Sighing I lifted my head and looked up at him. "Do not be sorry for speaking up about your mate. You had every right to speak out of turn because you are trying to protect her and avenge what happened to her understand?" He asked looking at me. 

I smiled slightly and nodded looking at him. Cody smiled at me and nodded before walking away following Lucas to gather the men for the party. I sighed heavily and looked around the room before following after them. 

I need to prove to the pack that I didn't just join to be Shelby's mate. Shelby could've easily have left but she chose to be here and so did I. I need to prove not only to the pack and Max, but I need to prove to Shelby that I can provide for her. Protect her. Protect our children if we have any in the future. 

I looked over to see Max holding his mate close kissing her face making her giggle. I watched closely as he caressed her swollen stomach. I would be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of them. I know Shelby is way to young to be having children at sixteen, but I can't help just envy Max. I want to hold my pregnant mate close like he was. I shook my head clearing my mind of those thoughts for now. I need to focus on the task at hand and worry about those things in the future. 

Arms soon wound their way around my stomach making me jump. I turned and smiled seeing Shelby. "Hello sweetheart." I whispered and kissed her forehead making her hum loudly. "What are you guys getting ready to do?" she whispered looking up at me with her big blue eyes. I hummed and looked over at Max and Avery before looking back at her.
