Max's POV

I groaned lifting my head off Avery's hospital bed. I looked at her sleepily and smiled seeing that she was still asleep.

She looked so peaceful laying there asleep. I'm glad her shoulder wasn't as bad as we thought it would be.

Collins said it was to be a speedy recovery. I'm glad at least she isn't feeling much pain anymore. I'm not sure if it's because she's healing or it's the morphine.

I looked over hearing the door open. Collins came in with a tray full of food.

My stomach growled seeing the food my mouth watering. I can't remember the last time I ate.

I jumped hearing Avery wake next to me. "Is that food?" She croaked sitting up some.

Collins chuckled. "Yes; there is plenty for both of you." He said setting the tray on her lap.

I resisted the urge to take food first. I wanted Avery to take food first. She needed it more than I do right now.

Avery glanced at me and grabbed a blueberry muffin from the tray taking a small bite.

I smiled and grabbed myself a poppy seed muffin taking a bite humming. It tasted so good.

Avery soon started eating more humming to herself as she ate. I smiled watching her eat.

Collins walked into the room and set down coffee for me and tea for Avery.

"Hmm you remembered my favorite." Avery said taking a sip purring almost.

I raised an eyebrow and looked at Collins.

"When her mother brought her to the hospital when she got a cold I gave her Earl Grey tea and it soothed everything." He said shrugging and left the room.

Avery looked at me and smiled. "I have this special dress I got for your ceremony." She said blushing bright red.

I smiled. "You'd look beautiful in any dress you put on." I said softly and looked at the time. "You ready to go? We both need to get ready for tonight." I said softly and kissed her temple.

Avery smiled and moved the tray and got up. She turned to face me upset. "What's wrong?" I asked walking over to her.

"C..can you have someone get my things from my house. I don't think my father would let me in." She sobbed crying now.

I whined and pulled her into a hug careful of her hurt shoulder.

Avery hugged me back tightly crying.

I frowned and rubbed her back softly humming. I felt so bad for her. I can't imagine the pain she is going through right now.

There was a knock at the door. I sighed and pulled away from her and opened it and smiled seeing Lucas.

Lucas was my best friend here in the pack. I'd trust him with anything.

"Just stopped by to see how you two are?" He asked smiling.

I laughed. "We are good. Hey can you and a few warriors go over to her house and get her things from there please?" I asked in a hush voice glancing behind me at Avery

Lucas nodded. "Of course." He said and nodded towards me and headed out.

Turning, I smiled at Avery. "Ready to go?" I asked softly. She looked at me and nodded smiling. "Let's go." She said taking my hand and pulling me towards the hospital main doors.

I pulled her close once we got outside. I looked around not seeing anyone near here. "Where is everyone?" I asked.

Avery laughed. "Getting the ceremony ready in the village area." She said poking my side.
