Alpha Max

Chapter 15

Mason's POV 

I sighed heavily trying to ignore the aching feeling in my chest from being far away from my mate. It hurt. The pain is unbearable. 

Heading down an old, abandon trail to where I found Shelby. "How far from the pack was she?" Max asked walking up next to me breaking my thoughts from Shelby. 

"She was on your pack territory, not far from the Eastern boarder." I said looking ahead of me. "You know, you didn't let me finish what I was going to say back at the hospital." Max said looking at me. "Huh and what was that going to be Alpha?" I asked and looked at him then back in front of me at at trail. 

The scent of her blood soon hit me. Like a slap to the face. My eyes grew dark. A low growl sounded form my chest. "Are we here?" Max asked seeing that I had stopped. "Yes, don't you smell her blood?" I asked looking at him.  Max looked at me then took a deep breath his eyes growing dark. 

Swallowing hard I motioned to the spot where I found her. Max walked over and examined the ground. "Has Avery been able to ask Shelby about the male who brought her here?" He asked looking at his father. 

I looked over at Cody holding in a whine. "Avery told me it was some male named Mike." He said looking at his phone then up at him. Max growled and looked at Lucas. "Find him." He growled. 

I looked back at Cody again worried about how Max was acting. Yeah he should be upset, but not this upset. Cody just shook his head no at me.  Frowning I looked back over at Max. "It looks like she won't be getting pregnant any time soon." He said motioning to the liquid on the ground. 

I mentally sighed in relief. "Her body or wolf most likely, must have rejected it." Cody said and looked up at his son. "The wolf can do that?" I asked looking at him confused. "Only alphas, it has to do with passing the right genes and things." he said shrugging. 

"Lets go back. We can't do anything without finding Mike. The rain has washed away most of the scent." Max said growling moving past Cody and I growling. Cody grabbed my shoulder before I followed Max. 

Turning I looked at him confused. "I want you to know, that I approve of you...I approve of you and my daughter being mates. I know the look you had on your face when you brought her in. I know it's not my place but you can join the pack to be with her. I would not ask Max right now...wait until his wolf has calmed down. I'm sure Shelby will tell you eventually." he said and smiled at me before following his son. 

I sighed heavily and followed after them. As we got closer to the pack house and hospital my heart started to race. I wanted nothing more than to go and see my mate. I needed to explain to her what is going on between us. I'm sure she is confused about it all. 

I just wish I could've found her before that male did that to her. I could've stopped it. Saved her from the pain she has experienced. I want to show her how she should be treated. I want to be her rock, her hero, the father to her children. I want to protect her. Make her feel safe. 

Now I'm sounding ridiculous. I spotted Collins walking up to us. He smiled at me. "She is wanting to see you." He said smiling more. I raised my eyebrow and looked at Cody and Max. 

"Go and see her." Max said motioning to the hospital.

I didn't waist anytime. Hurrying inside I quickly headed down the hall to her room. I knocked softly on the door; running a hand through my hair looking around nervously. 

"Come in!" I heard her soft, sweet voice call out from behind the door. Nervously, I turned the door handle and slowly walked into the room and looked up at her and smiled slightly. "How are you feeling?" I asked closing the door slowly.

A light blush showed on her cheeks and she looked down at her lap. Swallowing hard I walked over and sat in the chair next to her bed keeping my distance some, careful not to scare her. 

"I guess I feel alright, considering what has happened." She said and looked at me. I smiled at her. "I'm sorry that happened to you...I wish I got there before hand." I whispered looking down. 

Shelby whined and reached over lifting my chin. I looked up at her. "Do not blame yourself for what happened understand? You can't blame yourself for what happened to me." She whispered and brushed her thumb over my bottom lip. 

I swallowed hard and looked at her slowly leaning forward and kissed her softly. I felt Shelby freeze slightly before her body relaxed and she kissed me back softly. I smiled and pulled away brushing her cheek. 

"You're my mate aren't you?" She whispered looking at me. I nodded and smiled at her. "Y...you can reject me if you want." I whispered pulling away from her leaning back into the chair. I should've guessed she would reject me. I'm just a loner with nothing to my name. 

"Mason, look at me." She said sternly growling softly. I whimpered and looked up at her. She patted the bed moving over some. I raised an eyebrow and got up sitting on the bed next to her. She brushed my cheek softly. "Why would I reject you? You saved me and I feel a tug, an unbearable need to be near you. I can't imagine my life without you in it Mason." she whispered and kissed me softly. 

I hummed and kissed her back softly brushing her cheek and pulled away pressing my forehead into hers. "C...can you mark me?" she whispered. I pulled away from her and looked at her. "Are you sure about this?" I asked swallowing hard. My wolf screamed at me to do it. To mark her now. 

Shelby swallowed hard and nodded. "Yes." she whispered and pulled me closer. "And then I will mark you." she whispered softly in my ear kissing my neck. I growled softly and shifted my fangs in and kissed along her neck until I heard her groan softly. I smirked and bit down softly on her skin holding her hand squeezing it softly. 

Shelby whimpered softly. I pulled back at looked at my mark and smiled and looked at her. "My turn." she growled and grabbed be pulling me closer kissing along my neck. 

I groaned loudly when she kissed over that right spot. She smirked against my skin and bit down hard on my neck making me growl softly. She growled in response and pulled away kissing the bruise again before smiling at me. I smiled back and kissed her nose making her blush red. "Get some sleep it is late." I whispered. 

Shelby snuggled into my side and sighed heavily. "Just don't leave me." She whispered. I smiled and wrapped my arms around her. "I won't" I whispered and watched as she fell asleep. I smiled and snuggled into her soon falling asleep.
