Alpha Max

Chapter 7

Max's POV

I gasped seeing all the pack members gathered in town hall.

Soon an amazing scent came into the room. I hummed;it was food. Delicious food being cooked for the feast.

Avery leaned into me, our hands linked together. I smiled and held her close and watching a few of the pack members smiling at them.

I jumped hearing screams; only to see a few children run by us giggling at each other as they played

Avery squeezed my hand making me look at her. "Why are you so jumpy?" She whispered frowning.

I smiled at her. "Just nervous." I whispered.

Avery whined and turned me to face her. "Don't lie to me. I know when you are." She said sternly. I sighed and frowned. "The children just scared me when they screamed." I said looking down

Avery sighed and lifted my chin and kissed my cheeks. "Don't be scared anymore. I know the past few hours hasn't been the best." She whispered.

I whined and kissed her forehead.

Lucas came walking over with two glasses of champagne. "For the new Alpha. And Luna." He said handing me a glass then Avery.

Avery whined but took it and looked at the Golden liquid then at us and smiled.

"Are you excited?" Lucas asked me smiling sipping at his own drink. I chuckled and took a sip of mine and wrapped an arm around Avery's waist pulling her close.

"I guess you could say that. And nervous." I said shrugging.

Lucas chuckled. "I would be too." He said and looked over smiling seeing his mate Jordan walk over to us.

She was the same age as Avery. Small in stature, jet black hair, bright blue eyes, and she always has a happy attitude towards everything.

I noticed something different about her. She was pregnant! How did I not know this? Lucas tells me everything!

"Congrats you two." I said tilting my glass towards them.

Lucas blushed red and smiled. "Thank you. We were gonna tell you I swear just with everything that was going on I wanted to wait you know." He said

Jordan smiled. "I wasn't feeling too well to be in public anyways." She said and smiled at Avery.

Avery blushed and pressed into my side pouring her champagne into my glass.

I looked at her confused but shrugged it off and smiled at Lucas and Jordan.

My father came walking over and smiled at us. "It's time for dinner." He said and led us over to where my mother and sister were sitting at the end of the big table the others gathering around to sit.

I smiled and sat down and looked at my father who was still standing.

"Today marks the retirement of myself as Alpha and Rose as your Luna!" He called out and looked over at me and Avery. I smiled at him

He turned his attention back to the pack. "But it also marks the day as Max becomes your new alpha!" He called and motioned for me to stand the pack cheering and clapping

I blushed and stood and looked at my father. "Max has completed his training. He has already shown that he is a strong and caring Alpha! I am now passing my duties to him. He is now Alpha of the pack! As Alpha now Max, please assign your Beta." He said looking over at me.

I swallowed hard and looked out amongst the pack spotting Lucas and Jordan. "This Warrior has shown me outstanding loyalty. I know he will be as much loyal to the pack as he is to me. He has outstanding skills that not even I acquire! I would like to announce, Lucas Bradford as Beta!" I called

Lucas looked at me shocked and stood smiling at pack members as a few of them patted him on the back.

My father smiled at me and looked at the pack. "Now let's enjoy this lovey meal the women of our pack took time to make for us!" He called and sat down

I sat down and saw that everyone was waiting for me. Even my father. I blushed and took the first bite humming at the favor.  

Avery smiled at me and started to eat humming. "This food is amazing." She whispered leaning over to me

I nodded in response my mouth full. She laughed and took my napkin and wiped my mouth. "Already I have to clean you up mister." She whispered and kissed my cheek.

I blushed red and looked over at my father seeing him smile at me. I smiled back and continued to eat before coming full. I pushed my plate away before I ate too much.

I leaned back and watched my pack mingle amongst themselves. I smiled and looked over seeing some younger children playing in the play area.

I smiled watching them closely. They were all my responsibility. My responsibility to watch over them. And maybe my own one day if Avery wants children.

"Max! Come one let's go dance!" Avery gasped and literally pulled me out of my seat making me gasp.

"Slow down!" I said laughing and pulled her into me on the dance floor.

Avery laughed and leaned into me as we slowly fell into step with the slow song.

I rested my head on top of her's humming. "I love you." She whispered.

I smiled big. "I love you too." I whispered and kissed her head smiling.

Soon there was banging on the town hall door. The music stopped suddenly. My father and Lucas walked over to me.

I looked down at Avery. "Go be with my mother and Jordan." I whispered and watched her go. Most of the pack moved to stand behind us besides the warriors.

I growled and watched as the town hall door burst open and a few rouges stood in front of us.

Charles swallowed hard and tried to hide behind the warriors.

"Charles!" The lead man yelled. I looked over at him watching him step out.

"Where is She? You promised her to be before tonight! Now where is she!" He yelled.

"Who!" I snapped and looked at him.

"His bitch of a daughter! She is mine. He promised her to me. She is to be my mate!" The man yelled.

I filled with rage. How dare he call her that! How dare he claim her as his.

"She is my mate!" I yelled with rage shifting into my wolf growling at him. I let my wolf take over. I let my anger grow out of control. What happened next I don't know....I don't remember.
