Chapter 14

Max's POV

I sat at my desk looking over serval papers on reports of rouge encounters. Soon a frantic knock came at the door. Slamming my hand down on the desk growling in frustration.

"What is it!" I yelled standing seeing Lucas run into the room. His eyes were wild with fear.

"What happened?" I asked my heart dropping. Did something happen to Avery? My mind and heart started to race

"N...no it's Shelby....a loner brought her in. She's covered in cuts and bruises and...." Lucas said swallowing hard.

"And what?" I snapped stepping towards my Beta. He whined and looked at me. "She was raped....hopefully we will be able to track down who is was but I'm not sure if we can." Lucas said stepping back

I growled and grabbed his shirt. "You will find who is responsible. Where is she?" I growled. I did it. I let him surface again. I need to get better control of this.

"She's at the hospital. Your mother, father, and Avery are there also." Lucas said. Letting go of his shirt roughly I headed of the house to the hospital.

Anger boiled inside me. How did this happen? Was it a pack member? A rouge? Maybe she remembers something. Hopefully.

I walked into the hospital and followed the noise of my father talking to Collins.

Collins looked at me and frowned. "She's gonna be ok Max, but the damage is done.....I've taken DNA from her and if it's a pack member it will show up in the data base. Avery and your mother are in there talking to her. Keeping her calm and such. She's really shaken up." He said frowning.

I frowned and looked at my father. "The male that brought her in though is here and would like to talk to us." He said. I raised my eyebrow at my father but nodded.

He led me to the waiting room where the male was looking out the window. He looked over and smiled seeing us.

"You must be Alph Max, and you Alpha Cody?" He asked. "Just Cody." My father said and smiled. He smiled at him and looked at me.

"Thank you for bringing my sister home...do you remember where she was? When you found her?" I asked trying to keep him under control. I could feel him itching away in my mind wanting out.

"Yes, I can take you to the spot where I found her if you'd like?" He asked and looked at Cody then me. "Yes that would be greatfull. We will get a patrol of warriors and trackers together." My father said and left us.

"What's your name?" I asked him. He looked at me and smiled. "Mason." He said smiling.

I nodded and sighed. "Tell me Mason, you obviously don't belong to a pack and don't owe anything to anyone so why did you bring her here? Why save her?" I asked.

He frowned and rubbed the back of his neck. I could smell the fear radiating off him. Odd why was he scared?

"Well ummm I was just walking through the forest trying to find a decent place to stay for the night and that's when I heard it. Her..sweet voice crying out for help. Her wolf was crying out actually. But I felt my wolf drawn to her. All of a sudden it didn't matter if I found a place to sleep. I just needed to find her." Mason said and looked up at me biting his lip.

"She's our mate isn't she?" I asked clenching my jaw.

Mason frowned and nodded hanging his head. "I understand that if you don't want us to be together or let me explain to her what happened I can reject her and leave. Leave your pack and I won't ever return." He said his voice shaky.

Before I could reply to him my father walked back into the room. "The patrol is ready." He said. I nodded and looked at Mason.

He didn't look at me; he just followed my father outside. I frowned and followed them sighing heavily.

Shelby's POV

I groaned waking to see that I was in the hospital now. I soon felt someone take my hand. Blinking a couple of times I saw that my mother and Avery were in the room with me.

"Hey, How are you feeling?" Avery asked smiling at me. I looked around then back at her. "H...how did I get here?" I asked looking at them.

"A loner brought you in. He saved your life. You could've died out there." My mother said worried. I glared at her and pulled my hand away. "Is this what it takes? For me to get hurt and your attention is now on me? Go I don't want to see your or dad." I snapped and rolled; my back to them.

I could hear my mother sobbing. Then the door close as she left the room.

Avery set hand on my shoulder. "I know it's hard right now Shelby, but what you have been through is a traumatic event. Do you remember anything?" She asked her voice soft.

I rolled and looked up at her then her stomach. "I remember a cabin..." I said and looked at her. Avery nodded rubbing her stomach and sighed. "Anything else? How did you get there?" She asked.

"Someone drove me. It was Mike...b..but he wasn't the one that did this to me." I said and looked at my hands. My body hurt. I was sore everywhere. "Do you know who the male was that did this?" She asked

"No I don't know who he was." I managed to say. "W...where is the male that brought me here?" I asked wanting to see him again. I felt wanted with him around. I felt safe. "He left to show your brother and father where he found you. I'm not sure if he will return or not." She said and frowned at me brushing my hair out of my face.

A knock sounded at the door. I looked over seeing Collins walk in and smiled. "How are you feeling?" He asked.

"I feel sore and stiff." I managed to say frowning. Collins frowned. "You will feel that way for awhile." He said and sighed and stood at the end of my bed. "Shelby, I need to know if he released inside you. I found DNA on the outside but it wasn't much." He stated and frowned at me.

Avery looked at me worried. "He did b...but I'm on the pill so I should be ok right?" I asked growing scared. "Yes and no. I can check you in a few days, but I need to know that if you are pregnant what you want to do." He said.

I growled and looked at him. "I don't want to keep it. I don't want it growing in me." I said. I know it's wrong to say that but, I don't think I could love a baby who's father did that to me..

I heard Avery gasp next to me. I growled and looked at Collins seeing the same look. "Very well, I will let you be and rest." He said and left the room.

"Avery I don't want to hear it. What if those two you are carrying now weren't Max's?" I asked her looking at her. Avery frowned at me. "I don't know..." She said and sighed. "I should let you sleep, if that male comes back I will make you for you to thank him." She said and stood leaving the room.

Sighing heavily I laid on my side looking out the window. Why was it me? Why did it have to be me. I closed my eyes and I saw his face. The male that did this to me. I opened my eyes and sighed. Great now I can't sleep.

All I want to see that male that saved me. For some reason my wolf and I just want that. Just to see him. What is going on with me? Shaking my head I turned and turned the tv on trying to get my mind away from everything. I just wanted to escape this madness that has surrounded my life. I just needed to leave this whole place. Maybe that's what I will do. Leave the pack and travel the world until I find out who I am. Maybe even find my mate.

I yawned and soon my eyes began to droop. Soon I was asleep breathing heavily. Hopefully my dreams are full of nightmares....hopefully.
