The train was barely half full, most of the younger students having remained at Hogwarts over Halloween.
We lugged our trunks behind us, and made our way down the train, glancing into compartments looking for empty ones.
Harry stopped in front of a compartment and slid the door open.
"Hey Harry!"
"Well."
"Alright mate?"
"Oh hey!"A chorus of greetings were called, and my heart plummeted as I realised who it was, Ron, Hermione, Dean and Seamus.
"C'mon lets sit in here, there's plenty of room." Harry said, looking expectantly at me.
"I.. You go on ahead, I'm gonna find Blaise I'll come in soon though!" I said, plastering a confident expression onto my face.
"Alright then. Don't forget about us!" Harry laughed and I smiled.
He stepped into the compartment and closed the door behind him, and I quickly walked past, not looking through the window.
After what felt like forever, I stood in-front of a compartment, inside which Luna and Pansy were laughing carefree.
I slid open the door and they both looked at me, grins still stretched on their faces.
"Draco!" Pansy cried, and leapt up to hug me, which I gladly returned.
"Hey guys, you don't mind me sitting in here do you?" I asked, praying they didn't.
"Of course we don't!" Pansy said and she returned to her seat so I took the one opposite her.
"When are you going to join Harry?" Luna said.
"What? How did you know he was with other people?" I asked in shock.
"He would be with you if he wasn't." Luna said casually, and began flicking through her copy of The Quibbler.
"Blaise told me what happened." Pansy said, and I let out a sigh, slumped back against my seat.
"How're you feeling?" She asked, looking intently at me.
"I've been worse." I said honestly.
"Talk to me Draco." She said, a tone of plea in her voice.
"I'm okay Pan, honestly I am. They'll get over it eventually. And so what if they don't? I have you two and Harry and Blaise." I said, shrugging my shoulders.
"I know. But if you want to talk, don't be afraid to talk to me. Please."
"I'm not. Don't worry." I smiled and she looked reassured, settling back into her seat, and striking conversation with Luna.
I closed my eyes, feeling a headache coming on. This is definitely going to be a long term.
The door slid open again to reveal a red-faced neville, who was panting.
"Hey guys!" He said and sat down in the chair beside me, letting out a deep sigh.
"What happened to you?" Pansy said chuckling.
"I nearly missed the train. I forgot to set my alarm." Neville grinned.
And I laughed and shook my head, only Neville..
"Draco where's Harry?" He said, his eyebrows furrowed.
"Oh he's with Ron and the others." I said hoping to sound casual.
"Oh.. okay." He said, and I could tell he wanted to ask but I'm glad he didn't, I wasn't up for explaining to him.
The whistle sounded loudly, and strain stuttered into movement, beginning to pick up speed as the platform disappeared behind us, and I could feel my hope for the term dropping with every passing moment.
