Draco's POV:

Dinner time eventually rolled around, it was a welcome relief but my headache was back and stronger than ever.

I was finding it hard to focus on the food on my plate, my head felt heavy, and a slight numbness had spread over my body.

I jumped as someone poked my shoulder, and saw Pansy looking at me with furrowed brows.

"What's wrong?" I asked, trying to keep my expression as blank as possible.

"Are you alright?" She asked, and rubbed my arm softly.

"Yes Pan, I'm fine. Just tired." I said, wracking my brain for an excuse to end this conversation.

"Are you sure? You don't look too good, no offence."

"I'm sure. I need the toilet, I'll be back in a minute." I hastily stood up, leaving my plate full of food sitting untouched.

I ran my hand through my hair, my heart racing uncomfortably as I speed walked past the house tables and out into the entrance hall. In an attempt to calm my sudden nerves I leant against the wall, focusing on my breathing.

Eventually I got my heart rate to settle, and straightened up. I took another deep breath before setting off towards the hospital wing. I tried not to think about how annoying I must be to Madam Pomfrey, bugging her all the time. She must be so sick of me.

I paused outside the door to the hospital wing, completed conflicted on whether to go in or not. It's only a headache...I'm sure it'll pass. But she did say to come back..

Before I had time to make a decision the door was pulled open from the inside, I was surprised to see Neville on the other side.

"Oh hey Draco! What're you doing here?" He asked, a smile dawning his face.

I smiled back at him, "Hi Neville, I'm just getting painkillers for a headache. What were you doing here? Are you okay?"

"I'm great. I was just delivering some herbs to Madam Pomfrey from the greenhouses, I actually have more to get..." He said while holding up a long list of ingredients.

"Merlin that really is a lot. Maybe you should get a move on before it's past curfew." I said, trying not to laugh as Neville glanced worriedly down at his list.

He nodded, "Yeah you're right. I'll catch you later Draco."

"Oh Neville, if you see Harry can you tell him that I'm here? I don't know how long I'll be." I said, feeling the pit in my stomach return, stronger than ever.

"Sure thing. See you later." He said, and walked past me, turning to look back and wave at me.

"Cheers." I called, waving back at him.

Just as I was about to turn around, a sudden voice called from behind me.

"Mr Malfoy! What're you doing outside? Come in."

I looked behind me to see Madam Pomfrey standing in the doorway, her hands on her hips and her lips pressed into a thin line.

"Sorry." I mumbled as I approached her.

"Take a seat." She said and gestures toward an empty bed.

She followed hot on my heels as I strode over to the bed and sat down.

"Is your headache back?" She asked, waving her wand over me.

"Yes. It's worse now." I said, trying not to flinch as her wand got a too close to my face for comfort.

"And what about your vision? Any blurry-ness? Double-vision?" She continued to wave her wand over me, this time her brows were furrowed.

"Yes. Both. And it's not just that..." I replied, trying to ignore her mumbling.

"What happened?" She asked, finally stopping waving her wand. She took out a file and began writing in it.

"There's been this... numbness I suppose. At first it was only in my hands but now it feels like it's spreading everywhere."

"Hmm... Has this affected any of your movements?" She said, now writing faster.

"Only slightly, I just find it's taking me longer to do things like move my fingers."

"I see. I'm going to run some tests, the results will be ready in the morning. But until then, I must insist that you stay here overnight for monitoring.

"Overnight? Do I have to?" I asked, I could tell I sounded whiny but can you blame me?

"Yes. You have to."

I let out an exasperated sigh, it was going to be a long night.

Footsteps echoed from across the room, I glanced up from the textbook sitting on my lap to see Harry marching towards me.

"Oh dear god..." I muttered, closing the book as he quickly approached my beside.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming here?! We were all worried about you, Neville forgot to tell us where you were!" He exclaimed as he threw himself into the chair beside my bed.

I bit my lip in order to hold back a laugh. I clasped my hand over my mouth in an attempt to hide the grin on my face.

"What're you smiling about?" He asked, a smile slipping into his face.

"Nothing. Sorry for worrying you." I said, as I shuffled over slightly on the bed, and patted the space beside me.

He stretched out beside me, looping one arm around my shoulders and pulling me into his chest.

I relaxed into him as he pressed a kiss on the top of my head.

"Did Pomfrey say anything about what she thinks might be going on with you?" Harry asked.

"No...Harry, can I be honest?" I asked, my voice unsteady.

"Of course you can. What's wrong?"

"I'm scared. I'm so fucking scared Harry. I feel like somethings going to go really really wrong and I don't know what to do." I whispered, feeling tears gather in my eyes.

He tightened his grip on me, "I know you're scared Draco. But there's nothing to be scared about, everything will be fine. You'll be fine."

"I hope so." I mumbled, squeezing my eyes shut tight.

I jumped as I heard another voice, "Are we interrupting?"

Pansy was standing beside the bed, Luna smiling at her side. Behind them stood Ron, Hermione and Blaise.

"No of course not, what're you all doing here?" I asked, as they all pulled chairs up around the bed.

"We just thought we'd call and see you, since you mightn't be out in time to see us before classes tomorrow." Blaise said, stretching his arms above his head and letting out a yawn.

"If you're tired you can honestly just head on to bed."

"No don't be silly Draco, we want to be here." Hermione piped up, smiling warmly at me.

I smiled back at her, and looked around at all the people who were sitting beside me. A wave of contentment washed over me as I took a deep breath and ignored the ever growing unease in the pit of my stomach.
