"Thought you needed someone."

I opened my eyes when I heard someone knocking on my door. I sat up and felt tears going down my face. I didn't even realize I was crying, I quickly wiped my tears away before getting up and opening my room door.
I opened my door to find Camila, she stood there with a picnic basket. I loved her, she truly was a great best friend, I mean besides Jamie. Though Jamie was miles and miles away and attending school.
"Hey girly, talked to your mom and she said how you've been stuck in your room. So I thought I'd come down and cheer you up with a picnic basket and take you to the park." Camila told me with her contagious smile.
I didn't want to let her know I was crying before she showed up but now I definitely wanted to cry again. She truly was the sweetest and kind hearted person I'm glad to have met.
"So what do you say?" She asked.
I laughed, "I say it's time I get out of the house and spend the day with my friend."
"Music to my ears." She laughed.
I grabbed my phone and bag before heading out with Camila. There was a park near my home so we didn't need a car. It was also about to be summer soon so the weather outside was already getting warm. Luckily for both of us we have lived in the heat for a while.
We found a spot and Camila set up the picnic blanket and then the basket. We sat down and luckily we picked a spot with trees. I sighed as I looked around and seen how beautiful everything was. Crazy how beautiful everything was in this moment yet a big war of emotions was going on inside of me. Like I was the only thing wrong and ugly in this beautiful moment.
"So update me on everything!" Camila said breaking the silence.
I looked over at her and sighed, "I haven't uploaded on YouTube. My dad has been getting better lately but when things seem good they have to come crumbling down. I haven't been home in months and I really want a vanilla cake with strawberry's inside."
Camila laughed at the last part but I was serious. That was my favorite cake and for some reason it made me happy. She then dug into the basket and brought out a small slice of the cake. I looked at her with a shocked look as I took the cake from her.
"How did you know to bring this?" I asked with a laugh.
"Shawn." She said.
The sound of his name made my heart flutter yet break at the same time if it was possible. I looked down at the cake and remembered when I first told him about my favorite cake.
"You know what sounds amazing right now?" I asked Shawn as we walked down the street on a windy cold day in Toronto.
He looked down at me and smiled, "What? A warmer jacket?" He joked.
I rolled my eyes, "No. cake!"
"I would've thought you would say hot chocolate or coffee. Something warm, not cake." He laughed.
"Well technically cake can be warm if it is served just a little bit after taken out of the oven." I informed him.
Shawn now rolled his eyes at me trying to prove my point of wanting cake. He squeezed my hand tighter in his before looking down at me.
"So cake?" He asked.
I nodded, "Cake!"
We walked farther down the road to look for a bakery. When we found one we rushed inside for the cold wind was biting our skin. Shawn held the bakery door open for me and I walked into the warm bakery. The smells of sweets filled my nose and I couldn't have been happier.
We walked over to the display to see the assortment of cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and slices of cakes. My sweet tooth was aching to taste something sweet. My eyes scanned the delicious treats but stopped when I spotted my favorite cake.
"So what do you want?" Shawn asked.
"This one." I said as I pointed to the Vanilla cake that had strawberry filling.
"That one out of all the chocolaty treats?" Shawn asked, "Not even for the Oreo cupcake?"
I shook my head, "I do love Oreos but this cake has always been my favorite."
"Okay that one it is." He told me before he started to order.
"So how have you and Shawn been doing?" Camila asked breaking me out of the memory.
I looked over at her and set the cake down, "What?"
"You and Shawn? You both have been M.I.A on social and text. I was just wondering how things were going." She said before she took a bite from her sandwich.
I sighed, "Not great but not bad. I'm not sure, we've just been really busy. Which I get because he's famous and lives that crazy filled life. We got into a fight and haven't really talked since, my fault really. I've just had a lot on my plate emotionally and took it out on him."
Camila frowned, "Oh well knowing you both I'm sure you'll fix things. You both have a lot on your plate and like you said you're both busy. Maybe a break is best but when you're both ready you'll be better than ever. If there's anyone I know that's meant to be is you two."
I forced a smile for her but on the inside I wanted to cry. She had so much faith in us even when I felt like we weren't going to do good. I mean we haven't even dated for long, literally months, and I feel like we were just not meant to be.
We shouldn't be fighting like this so fast, I mean no relationship is perfect but still. We've only been dating for a few months and already it feels like we're drifting apart. Almost like we were just destined to be friends and nothing more. But even when we were just friends he pulled a similar stunt in being distant and pushing me away.
Maybe Camila was wrong, maybe we weren't meant to be like she thinks.
