25. California

"The setting up."

One month; October 12th

"Well if we have it here then we can fit about seven tables. Though we're not inviting a lot of people so we can also do it up by the house." My mom said as we arrived at this 'park' that's beside my grandpa's ranch.

I nodded as I took in the amount of space. It wasn't the first time they use the area. Normally when big events happen we use the park but when it's get together's we use the house.

"How many people are you planning on inviting?" I asked her and my dad.

"Whoever can come from my family and obviously your dads." My mom told me.

"I would use this space, if it was just gonna be my uncles I would've said the house." I told her.

She nodded, "Yeah well also need a tent and definitely something to dance on. Don't want heels poking into the grass and girls falling."

That made me laugh at just imagining myself fall over. We finished up all the planning of how things would look. We spent a good hour or two there just discussing where tables would go. After we were done we eventually left back to my uncles house.

He lived a good thirty minutes away from my grandpa's house. I always enjoyed spending the night at his house. Definitely the one who was a better host and had more hospitality then my other uncles. I mean I'm sleeping on his living room couch but it was better than the floor.

We got to his house and they were in the middle of deciding where to eat. My parents and I walked over to where they were. My other siblings had decided to stay here while we went to the ranch.

"Anywhere is fine with me." My sister told them.

"What about Toppers?" I asked as I grabbed a water from their fridge.

"Oh yeah we haven't been there in years." My mom said.

My uncle looked at all of us, "So we all want toppers?"

We all agreed and everyone besides my parents and I, went to get changed. We then heard the doorbell ring, my parents and I looked at each other. I decided to get up and go check to see who it was. I opened up the door and found my best friend Jaime was standing there.

"Jaime what are you doing here?" I asked as I hugged my best friend.

"Your mom invited me and so I took the first flight out." She told me as we pulled apart.

"Yay! I can't wait to show you around my home town." I told her as she came in.

"I can't wait either I've never been around this part of California." Jaime said as she walked into my uncles house.

"Hi Jaime thank you for coming." My mom told her as she got up and hugged Jaime.

"Thank you for inviting me." She tells her.

Just then everyone emerges from getting ready. I introduce Jaime to everyone and everyone welcomes her. We then pile into three different cars to go get pizza. When we arrived at Toppers restaurant we had to get a pretty big booth. My uncle was a family of four and my family was six plus Jaime so there was 11 of us.

Jaime and I walked slower then the rest of the group. We stayed a little back waiting to get our drinks.

"So my dad invited Shawn to the wedding. Well I did but it was my dad's idea." I told Jaime out of nowhere.

She looked at me with a shocked face, "What? Shawn is coming?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know he said he would see but he hasn't called or texted me. So I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't, tour starts back up in a couple weeks."

"I'm surprised, your dad asked?" She asked as we got to the soft drink fountain.

I nodded, "Yeah surprised me too. My dad always seemed like the type to hate anyone who breaks my heart."

"All dads would." Jaime said as she grabbed ice tea.

I decided on pink lemonade, "Yeah well whether he shows up or not I'm not going to think anything of it."

"So you wouldn't be happy if he showed up?" She asked as we slowly made our way back to the table.

"We seen each other at the VMA's and I was happy that we talked but nothing else happened. So if he were to show up I don't think anything will be different." I tell her.

"Ugh I hope he comes." Jaime whispers.

I furrowed my eyebrows, "Why?"

"You're telling me your knees don't get weak when you see how he's been dressing lately? Can you imagine if he shows up looking like that?" She told me while wiggling her eyebrows.

"Oh hush." I said feeling my cheeks heat up.

We sat down at the booth that everyone else was at. We dropped the topic of Shawn because I just didn't feel like talking about it with everyone. But despite the conversation change and everyone talking.

I still couldn't get him out of my head.
