A Malfoy never stares

Chapter 8.

Draco's POV:

Kayla was just sitting across from me picking at her food. I wasn't staring, a Malfoy never stares, I was simply looking at her. Her friends came over to the table and sat down. "So what were you saying about Draco?" Ginny had asked. This brought me out f my daydream, I tried to make it seem that I wasn't listening. Kayla was talking about me? "Nothing," she said turning red. She was adorable when she blushed. "Really because Evie says you were dreaming of him and when you woke up you said 'what do you want dragon boy?'" Gunny said teasing Kayla. Kayla wasn't just talking about me, she was dreaming about me as well. My heart nearly skipped a beat when Ginny said this. "Stop it, I don't want to talk about it!" Kayla said. "Draco, Kayla wants to talk to you!" I looked up over to where her beautiful brown eyes were. "What is it?" I asked. "Nothing." she replied. "Okay." I went back to eating chicken. "What do you mean nothing, Kayla, you said that you wanted to be friends with Draco." Ginny said. Kayla wanted to be friends with me. I nearly choked. "You want to be my friend?" I asked. She looked over to where her friends were standing but were no longer there. She looked worried until she started speaking. "Well, yes. I want to be your friend because I am sick of us bickering all the time. Our families are friends so we should learn to at least be civilized for when and if we see each other during the holidays for one of our parents banquets." she said without breathing. "Um okay, that makes sense." I said. "So handshake to make it official?" she asked. Her porcelain skin felt like velvet. We had been shaking hands for 20 seconds and it was getting kinda awkward. "Can I have my hand back now?" I asked. "Oh, um of course," she pulled her hand away from mine. I wish I could hold her hand properly not as a handshake. I wanted to intwine my fingers in hers.
