As she laid on the floor behind the bar, she heard sirens. She felt the searing pain in her abdomen and saw all the blood on her hand as she pulled it away. She watched as her family scrambled around making sure they were all ok. She could hear Jax yelling for her and stopping in his tracks when he saw her laying on the floor clutching her stomach.
Leaning down checking her over, he lifted her head into his lap and screamed for Chibs. He looked down with tears in his eyes, trying to keep her awake. "You gotta stay awake. C'mon Tasha." he pleaded with her. "You can't leave me too."
Chibs rounded the corner and knelt down to assess the damage that the bullet made. He shook his head as he looked over to Jax. "This is bad Jackie. I can't patch this, she needs a doctor." he said as he took the shirt off of his back to try and stop the bleeding.
The only thing running through Tasha's head was Happy. She needed to know that he was ok and she needed to tell him how she felt. If she didn't make it he needed to know. She groaned as Chibs pressed the shirt over the bullet wound. "I need Happy." She cried out again.
Jax yelled for Rat to find Happy. Within seconds, Happy ran over to see Tasha lying on the ground. His heartbeat quickening as he dropped to his knees at her side. Tears were now welling up in his eyes as he looked her over. He took her hand in his as he tried to stay calm, wiping her tears away.
"Baby, I am so sorry." he softly whispered as he leaned down and kissed her lips. "I should have been there to protect you."
She reached up and touched his cheek softly, fighting the urge to close her eyes. "You have done nothing to be sorry for," she said through short breaths. Her eyes starting to get heavier. "You keep me safe. You always have. I love you." she said as her eyes started to close.
The sound of the sirens get louder as Jax watches his sister start to drift into unconsciousness. "No! Tasha wake up." he said as he softly slaps her cheek.
She groaned and opened her eyes for a brief moment before her eyes slipped into the back of her head and she lost her battle of consciousness. Chibs yelled for the paramedics as he heard them bursting through the door with Rat.
They moved out of the way as Jax gave the paramedic her history and watched as they loaded her up onto the gurney, not wasting time on getting her into the ambulance. Happy's heart sank at the thought of losing her and he couldn't hold in the tears any longer. He had to be in that ambulance and know that she was going to be alright.
Chibs pulled him back as he tried to follow them inside. He shook his head at the killer. "You can't Hap. She's in good hands. We'll meet them up there." he said as he lid a heavy hand on Happy, hoping to keep him in place.
As they watched the ambulance pull away, Happy ran to his bike and headed towards the hospital, following closely as they sped through the streets of Charming. Jax sighed heavily trying to keep his emotions in check as he looked around the lot. He saw detectives and sheriffs all over and he watched as his club was trying to grasp what had just happened.
They had gotten out of the gun business so shit like this wouldn't happen anymore. He knew it was meant for his sister and his anger came to a clear breaking point. His fist flew into the side of the panel van over and over again.
"Jackie, that's enough." Chibs said softly as he pulled him away and wrapped his arms around him in a rough hug. "She's going to be ok. She's a tough girl."
Jax shook in anger and fear. Tears falling as he tried to regain his composure. He pulled away from the Scot and lead his mean towards the bikes and headed off for St. Thomas.
Happy paced the waiting room of St. Thomas. After they had gotten her to the ER, the nurses wouldn't let him stay with her. He was waiting for Jax and the rest of the guys as the doctor came out.
"Are you family of Natasha Teller?" he asked Happy. At his nod the doctor went on to explain the extent of her injuries. "She's lucky. Another inch to the left and she would have bled out in seconds. She's headed in to surgery to repair her liver. We managed to get most of the bleeding to stop down here, but there was significant damage to her spleen as well. There may be a chance that we have to remove it."
Happy nodded and tried to focus on what the doctor was saying when he heard the rest of the guys head into the waiting room. The doctor excused himself and Happy turned to fill the guys in. He pulled Jax to the side and dropped the bomb he'd been holding.
"I love her, man." he said as he ran a hand over his bald head. He needed to let Jax know that he was going to be there for her. To help protect her.
Jax nodded and clapped him on the back as he noticed them wheel her towards the elevator. She had a breathing tube in her throat and was heavily sedated to get her right into surgery. They both stood and said a silent prayer.
Hours later, they still had no word on how Tasha was doing. Jax was getting restless and headed outside for a smoke, seeing Happy and Juice standing just by the door. He needed to have a chat with Happy about what he had said before they wheeled Tasha up to surgery. "We need to have a talk." Jax said as he walked over to the two men.
Juice excused himself and headed inside as Happy stood up straight. He knew what was coming. "You hear anything yet?" he asked.
Jax shook his head and tugged at his beard. "Not yet." he sighed. "That sht you said in there before they wheeled her up... How long has that been going on?"
Happy shook his head. "I just told her tonight before those fuckers lit up the club house. I couldn't keep it in anymore."
Jax nodded and looked at Happy, "I'm only gonna tell you this once. You hurt her and I will have zero problems putting a bullet in you head." he said sincerely.
Happy nodded and shook Jax's hand. "My word, brother." he said and jerked his head over to the door when Tig stepped out.
"Doc's looking for you." he said, as he waited for them to walk back into the hospital.
They made their way up to the surgical floor and met with the doctor. "Tasha did really well during surgery. We repaired her liver and we did have to remove her spleen. She will be weak for awhile from all the blood loss. But she should make a full recovery." he said as he shook both of their hands.
"Can we see her?" Jax asked.
As the doctor looked at his chart, Happy snuck off in search of her. There was no way anyone was going to keep him from seeing for himself that she was ok. When he found her room, he slipped inside quietly and saw her hooked up to IV's and monitors. He gently took her hand in his and sat in the chair beside her bed.
"I need you to get better, little girl." he said softly as he kissed her hand.
She squeezed it softly and opened her eyes a little. "I thought you were gonna drop the little part." she managed to say groggily.
Happy softly chuckled as tears welled up in his eyes. "Only if you grow another foot." he said as he leaned in and kissed her lips softly. "Now get some rest. I need you better."
As she woke, she could hear soft snores and looked over to see Happy sleeping uncomfortably in the chair beside the bed. She knew he was awake most of the night so she let him sleep. Watching him she smiled. She had never thought that her best friend would ever feel the same way about her as she did him.
Her eyes darted to the door as Jax and Chibs walked in. She smiled as she put a finger to her lips pointing to Happy asleep in the chair.
"I'm awake." Happy groaned. "I don't know how anyone gets any sleep in this damn place."
She laughed and winced in pain as Jax walked to the bed and kissed her forehead. "Well kiddo, now will you admit you're not superhuman and you need us?"
Tasha rolled her eyes at him. "You sound just like mom, ya know."
Jax scoffed as he looked at his sister in horror at the mention on being anything like his mother. "I should kick your ass for saying that."
"But you won't, because it's true." She teased, sticking her tongue out at him.
Chibs laughed. "Doesn't matter how old you two get, you still act like kids." he said shaking his head.
